HI EVERYONE, TOOK MY LIBBY IN TODAY FOR THE LBJ RECALL, WHEN I GOT HOME AND CRAWLED UNDER IT, I FOUND THAT THEY HEATED THE NYLOCK NUTS UP ON THE TIE-ROD ENDS. THE PLASTIC WAS ALL OVER THE THREADS,THEN THEY REUSED THE SAME NUTS!! NOW I KNOW THAT WHEN YOU TAKE OFF A NYLOCK, YOUR SUPPOSE TO PITCH THEM AND GET NEW ONES! OR AM I WRONG ABOUT THIS???ALSO MY RADIATOR BOTTLE WAS LOW SO I ASK THEM TO FILL IT UP,AND YOU KNOW THAT LITTLE LINE THAT SAY COLD AND HOT,WELL THEY FILLED IT UP TO THE TOP,JUST BELOW THE CAP. NOW IM A LITTLE STEAMED SO ANYONE OUT THERE THAT HAD THERES DONE PLEASE CHECK AND MAKE SURE THIS HASENT HAPPEN TO YOU 05 SPORT STILL STOCK FOR NOW |

That is very odd, you must have gone to a bad dealer. And btw, i would remove the liquid from the coolent resovoure, having it filled to the top can be.... detramental, it needs room to expand |

So why was they messing with the tie rod ends? Did you ask them or did they align it? I would take it back in and have them remove the anti freeze and replace the nuts tom |

You dont always need to replace those nuts.. They can usually be reused unless you messed the threads up on them.. Not to sure why they heated it up though? That could cause premature failure depending on how hot they got them. Be sure to take some of the antifreeze out. The seem in the middle of the container is where it should be. |

thanks for the input, talked to jeep today and the dealership, the nuts on the tie-rods were heated to remove them from the spindles!so i was right about that! NOW,they said that they had to heat them up again to put them back on and that they will not back-off!!!this is standard procedure so they say!! on all of the lbj recalls. AND yes i drained the radiator. thank for allowing me to vent!!! take care all |

Never heard of heating them up to take them on and off, I mean I have had to heat old rusted nuts up to get them off but I have had mine on and off several times with doing the lift / ball joints etc and never had to heat them??? Maybe new speedy way of doing things? |
