I posted this over on the Mid-Atlantic site last night, Wanted to share with everyone also. I’m the proud new owner of a ’07 Rubicon! :D

I hated to do it but I had to sell the Liberty. There where too many problems with the CRD. Chrysler doesn’t seam to care about all the issues people are having with the diesel. Most have had major transmission issues and constant failing EGR valves. I just can’t justify keeping it if every four months I will have to replace the bloody EGR valve. In 16 months I have gone thru four of them. The projected long term repair costs are just too high at this rate. I’m better to cut my losses now.

Last week I test drove a two door Rubi while the Liberty was in for problems with the alternator and ECM. I didn’t think I was really serious about it at the time. I told the sales woman about the Liberty and how I wanted to know what I could get for it. She called the next day to tell me this steel blue one with all the options I wanted was just delivered minus the tow receiver that they could add. I decided to go check it out the next day when I picked up the KJ. On my way to the dealer the check engine light came on. There tech checked the code said EGR time again. That was the final straw. Not even out of the shop one day and this. Here is just a list of warrantable repairs the liberty has been thru:

    - 1,000 mi replaced the x-fer case shift cable.
    - 8,000 mi replaced water in fuel sensor,
    re-flash transmission control module.
    - 14,000 mi new front wheel hubs.
    - 20,000 mi first EGR valve,
    turbocharger hose.
    - 22,000 mi Lower Ball Joints.
    - 28,000 mi second EGR valve.
    - 32,000 mi torque converter recall,
    replaced leaking x-fer case seal.
    - 32,500 mi second turbo hose,
    - 32,600 mi new turbo (dealer damaged doring last repair)
    - 33,500 mi new throttle body,
    third EGR valve.
    - 38,100 mi new alternator,
    engine control module.
    - 38,150 mi forth EGR valve.

I was shocked when they offered about $3,000 more than Kelly Blue Book said it was worth. Needles to say I didn’t look back. Yesterday I manageged to get out get a little mud on the tires. I have to admit I like the way she rides.

Very cool! I don't think you owe any explanation on why you UPGRADED from a problem child KJ to the JK. I hope the JK works out great for you and Don't you dare not stay L.O.S.T.! Now get your butt into the Wrangler section and start posting!

don't blame you one bit. Once I get another year or so more of mine paid off, I'll probably do the same thing but, I really want my kj to keep me happy... guess we'll see what happens...

I think you made a wise decision. :D My wife loves the Liberty sooooo much, but the CRD was very poorly designed. You are amongst many who have sold, traded, or are on their way of getting rid of their CRD. We traded our ‘05 CRD for an ‘07 gasoline Liberty. The Rubicon is very awesome, I think you will be extremely happy!

Great ride, should be fun. Sorry to hear about all your kj problems, thats another reason why I'm glad I got the v6. I still can't get my arms wrapped around the new jk, I plan on getting a wrangler as well, but I'll just buy a yj, I've had tj's and cj's, the yj is the one that I haven 'y owned yet and that way I still can keep the lib. You got yourself a sharp rubby there partner and dout your miss the libby to much ha ha.

Just to stick up for the CRD, mine has 34,400miles and runs/shifts awesome.Never been to the dealer(maybe that is why it is still fine) Not all CRD's are bad.
