Post subject:  hi lift problem
i got a hi lift 48" a few weeks ago, and have been storing it under my rear seats

anyways, ive used it once or twice...and we were working on my friends dakota last night and yesterday and had to use the hi lift

so i took it out and i think its broken, it MAY be operator error , but i mean ive used it before and know how it works....it wont allow the reverse clip (the one that dictates if it will raise or lower) to stay in the up position, thus letting me jack UP

it will only let me slide it up and down (in the loose/neutral position) and ratchet downwards



anyone have an idea or should i bring it back for an exchange?

This is pretty common with hi-lifts, and it happened to mine, too. Lube up all the working parts with a little grease, and it should free right up.

This will happen if it doesn't get used frequently, such as if it sat in a warehouse before you bought it, or like mine where it gets used only as a very last resort because I value my safety and that of my wheeling companions. :D
