Concept Patriot My Jeep Is it just me, or does it look EXACTLY like a Liberty Renegade that's been stretched? |

It looks sort of like a cross between a liberty and a commander to me |

Looks to me that Jeep is sorry that it got rid of the Cherokee...looks like what Cherokee would have evolved to. |

It looks like crap, is what it looks like. It looks like the Cherokee dug itself out of its grave and took a massive crap on a Liberty. |

I kind of like it, sorta. I would have to wait to see one in person before deciding I guess. In a way it resembles the X-Terra Is this going to be a 2006 release instead of a 2006 Liberty? |

It's actualy an inch shorter all around than the Liberty. It just looks longer. This is not a Liberty replacement. |

Actually I would say the passenger compartment is longer because it looks like they moved the spare (inside or under, don't know). I've always thought that having the spare mounted on the rear was the best thing for off-road vehicles (that or on the roof). Having a flat on a rocky section where the spare is trapped underneath would suck, having to jack it up to get the spare, jack it up to replace the tire... But back to the point at hand, it does look like a stretched Liberty. Has anyone seen a Liberty stretch limo yet? I haven't but I'm sure it would be |

Just bought an 05 CRD so I won't be in the market for at least a few years but if I were in the market and it had the CRD and Select trac it would be on the list. |

It actually looks like they shortened the engine area, because the A pillar is closer to the front tire. This gives them a larger rear door, which means they probably could have moved up the rear seat and inch or so and give more room to the trunk area. So, you are probably right, it probably has more interior space, but it is shorter than the Liberty. ![]() Notes from Allpar.com about the direction of Jeep Liberty Wheelbase 104.3" Overall Length 174.4" Width 71.6" Height 70.2" Cherokee (old XJ) Wheelbase 101.4" Overall Length 167.5" Width 69.4" Height 63.9" Patriot and Compass Both concepts have a 103.7-inch wheelbase and are within one-half inch of each other in overall length, which is about 173 inches. I sorta like the side view that Logan Six posted. I like it a lot more than I liked the Liberty body style when it first came out. |

Look more closely at the front end - the wheel flare is up against the rear of the fender but there is an additional 6-8" in fron of the flare; looks like they just relocated the flare for asthetics |

It's because the Patriot is on the FWD Dodge Caliber/Jeep Compass platform (though we all keep hearing the Pat will be available in 4WD), while the Libby is a RWD platform. That's why the KJ has more space between the dash/a-pillar and the front tire. |

I though the Patriot was going to be a the softroader too (ie no lo-range etc) And how does the Commander become the Off Roader when is is essential a stretched Grand Cherokee. And is the Liberty then going to redesigned as a soft roader. |

Sorry guys, Patriot is no XJ ... and hardly a KJ replacement. This is a car based SUV as is the Compass, FWD with an AWD option. Patriot may get some skids and enough clearance to get itself a "TrailRated" badge. I would consider the Patriot a lower-budget introduction to Jeep. A Vue with Jeep inspiration. Not for me, but I like the styling. As far as I can tell, rumors are still that KJ gets a redesign in 2007 as a 2008 model. I have heard little to the effect KJ is getting the ax, but I do hear rumors of a flashlight mount |

Yes, yes I went there. |
