Drove to the dealership to get some touch-up paint. I pull along where the salesmen hang out and park. I get a phone call from the doctors office so I am sitting in the KJ for a few minutes. After the call, I step out and walk towards the door. My KJ is facing away from the big windows of the dealership so the rear is in total view. Boy were those salesmen gawking, sticking their hands on the glass at their foreheads to look at my KJ. I walk in and one salesman asks if I have an appointment anyone. I say, Nope, I am going to the parts department.

As I am leaving, two are still looking at it. As I pull away, I could see three staring.

Makes you feel good knowing they are in disbelief or in total wonder/awe of your mod'd KJ.

I would be gawking too! That thing looks freaking rad man. I hope that one day RL will call me up and confirm my shipping info.

quick question, i see that the spare kinda hangs in the way of the hitch, or at least at the angle of the camera it seems to be. Is that truly the case, or is there room to actually use the hitch with the spare on the back??

Its got to be harder to use that hitch than it was to use the stock hitch since its higher. You would need an extended receiver probably.

I get looks and questions at the dealership with just my lift. They come out to ask me about it even if I have the stock rims on it. Then they ask me if I want to trade. Silly sales man.

I actually had the parts guy at Coliseum Motors asking about lift kits the other day. He saw mine and just KNEW he wanted one, too! :D It feels good to be a pioneer!

The drop hitch I have won't work on it w/ the spare on the tail gate (245/75 BFG AT). It hits the tire. There is barely enough room to put the d-ring/shackle reciver in. I am sure it was designed for using it along w/ the tire carrier.

If I have time when I am out running around I will just drive through a dealership just to mess with them a little, theyre always heading out the door looking , waving  Theres a couple of small dealerships down in southeastern Ohio that really get right up in the windows every time I pull in, but now if I had that RL bumper on mine, I would slow down enough for them to at least get out the door to say "hello may ...I....help....."and then Id be gone
I think that bumper just really finishes off a KJ, I am so jealous Tokyojoe  !!!

First, a young college kid hit me in the rear a few months ago. He hit the lower part of the spare. Nothing noticable as far as damage, but I am sure there had to be a little bit of pushing the spare down and in some. The hood on his Escort was heavily damaged for 5-10 mph. His airbag deployed!

Now with that said. The spare is just touching the top of the hitch. I have not tried to put anything into the hitch receiver yet. I am sure you would need an extension for the hitch if you were going to tow and keep the spare as is.

Don't even think about a larger tire than the 245/75/16 MTR's fitting on the back unless you get the tire carrier or the plate that raises/pushes out the spare tire about 1-2" on the stock rear spare carrier.. Hitch would definitely be a no go also.

I can't wait to put mine on next week. I think the RL bumbers look awsome.

Some of my customers are running the 265 on the stock carrier with the bumper and it fits...barely. As for the hitch, I designed it the best I could so that it was up much higher from the stock hitch to give the better departure angle, but the tire in the stock carrier is really nothing I can do anything about. I did have the swing out carrier mostly in mind, and since the hitch in the bumper isn't tow rated and there are already shackle tabs to use as tow points, I designed the bumper to work with the stock hitch, so you could bolt that up very easily under the bumper if you needed to tow something. Just did the best I could with the design to work the best with whatever you needed, but there are always going to be slight conflicts depending on application.

I slightly remember someone saying if you take the spare holder off the door and then rotate it about 180º it will ride higher and might give a little more clearance.

That is true and it angles out at the top so you can still open the rear window and hatch with no problems.

What a looker!

I think that my jeep looks tough with my bike roofrack, forget that I wish I had a good excuse to get a RL bumper!!!

For now, I can't wait for my stock tires to wear out so I can put some tougher looking tires on the libby. It's hard to justify much more than that to my wife who still wants my libby to look *cute* (yeah right)

Rock lizard: props for throwing in your input. I really like the bumpers.

Very nice. Its always nice when somebody takes an interest. I got into a discussion with a sales rep at my local dealer (I'm pretty sure he's here from Europe based on the accent), but he loved my 02 and its pretty stock. He was asking me all kinds of questions over how I liked the truck tranny, how rare my color is, the BFGs, my brushguard, etc. Kinda cool, especially since he never even tried to sell me anything.

That's a good feeling when workers at the dealership stop and appreciate your Jeep.

When I took mine in to get the speedo recal, several mechanics stopped working to come over and talk with me about my KJ. They asked me about how it handles off road and what kind of trails I've taken it on.

What did they charge you to get he speedo recalibrated?
Was it a simple plug and play operation or did you have that aftermarket controller and have them install it?
