no it wont, terrible design. Its exactly like trying to hold a 20lb weight in your hand with your arm outstretched. It would be better to put a couple of cans close to the door and put the spare up top. |

It seems to me that I read there is a weight limit on the tail gate. I think I read it in my owners manual. Maybe 50lbs? Terry |

even if the weight was do-able, it requires those blitz cans, which are much more problematic and the mounting not interchangeable with either the Scepter US-MIL-SPEC cans: http://www.pangaea-expeditions.com/scepter/ or the NATO Steel style: http://expeditionimports.zoovy.com/product/20LJCR. Plastic or steel, pick your poison, but I haven't really seen any favorable reviews of the blitz cans. |

Terry Yes, the owners manual (for my 2002, at least) says 50 lbs. In my experience, you can put much more weight on it without problems. I have the Mopar bike rack that mounts to the spare tire, and with the weight of the spare and two mountain bikes on it, that's way over 50 lbs. I've even stood on top of the tire a few times without anything happening. All that said, I wouldn't want this setup on there. Like others, I think the way the weight is distributed isn't a good setup. |
