The last thing I want my dealer to inspect is my transmission, so I hope this is normal:

When I back up a hill very slowly the transmission pulsates like a machine gun. (just not quite as fast and no noise).

If I go faster it quits, but sometimes I need to go very slow so I don't ram a tree. On flat ground no problem.
Normal.........right? Everyone's car pulsates doesn't it? Please don't tell me my dealer should look at it.

Maybe it's a new feature for the '07's? Mine will do it everytime without fail if I'm backing up a hill as slow as possible.
Very obvious, very noticeable. It's not just one of those things that you think you may or may not feel. It pulsates like there's no tomorrow !
Everybody go outside now, find a hill, and test this out. I don't want the dealer to touch my transmission. That's never a good idea.

That's what I like to hear. Even if you're lying........thanks a lot.
I tried searching for threads on it, but I couldn't find them.
I don't even want to know what it is or what causes it.
I just don't want the dealership to ever, ever, ever touch the transmission.

mine does it too, it kinda feels like its vibratin a lil, i use it to judge my traction as well because if you go too quick with the gas pedal particularly on dirt you'll do a reverse burnout. but i also notice this if im on a steep enough hill to roll back in Drive after i let off the brake and hit the gas quickly so i dont hit the car behind me!

P.S. i know i can use two feet but i like to make sure i have good reaction times all goes back to when i used to drive a stick

I've always driven a manual also. This automatic does some strange things, so I'm not too sure about it yet. It's going to have to prove itself to me over the next 20 years.

Mine does it going forward as well....... Not as violent as the reverse, but yeah. Not like a machine gun though.
When I leave it at D and let go of the brakes, if the jeep is warm, and idle rpm is low, it will shake and tremble tiny bit. As if the engine will stall any second now. It does that only in 2x4. I have selec-trac and I drive it in 4x4 FT almost all the time.. It doesn't do it as much.

You guys are making me feel better and better.
I was a little stressed out yesterday driving home from hiking, because I thought a "pulsating" transmission can't possibly be normal, but I guess it is.
This must be a "feature" of the Liberty, not a "problem".

I only have 1 other sound I need to figure out now, and then all sounds will be accounted for:

Something happens when going uphill once in a while around 30 mph.............the transmission will make just an ugly buzzing/scraping type sound for about a second. It is definitely not a healthy sound, but I have no idea what it is.
(This happens rarely and I don't know how to duplicate it........just seems random)

The scraping sound, or the reverse pulsating thing?
