| Post subject: | Auto Loan Question |
Just wanted your opinion on this: I bought my new Liberty on April 6 which is the effective date of my new loan. My old loan at the bank has still not been paid off by the dealer. So here it is April 23 and I'm paying interest on 2 auto loans, so it's cost me an extra $44 so far. Shouldn't the old loan have been paid off the same time the new loan was established? I called the dealer last week, and the slimeball I dealt with said he'd check on it and call me back if there was a problem. I called the credit union today, and they said they have no memo that a payoff has been requested. I do not trust the people I bought from for 1 second. Seemed very dishonest. |

If u have a contract stating that they will pay off your old loan, then as of that date, you are no longer responsible for the loan. Send a copy of the contract along with a letter stating that your old loan has been transferred to the dlr to your credit union and let them go after the dlr. |

I called the dealer and luckily got a different finance guy than the sorry excuse of a human being I've been dealing with. He said he'll check and call me in the morning because the department he needs to research this is gone for the night. He said it should have been paid off by now though, and that I should get some kind of credit for any interest charges. I doubt if they're trying to do anything fishy, but the other finance guy just oozed bad karma, and was being a real jerk last time, because I pressed him to honor a deal that was promised to me by the salesman. It's hard to believe these guys have families and kids that can actually stand to be around them, but they all look happy in their pictures hanging on the wall. |

I call car dealers "Professional Liars". They want to be your best friend while soaking your life savings out of you. My dealer made the "Executive Decision" because the sales manager went home for the day to take that last $50 off the price of my Libby. I'm flat serious - that's what he called it - 50 lousy bucks is an executive decision!? He actually tried to get me to believe that he might lose his job if we went any lower. F-ing crooks, I tell you! The only reason he agreed is because I made him call the other dealer I was haggling with. They hashed it out for a while - on speaker - because I got tired of driving back and forth. I ended up with a good price though. |

I had a ford dealer "forget to payoff my loan" a few years back. How did I discover this you ask?? My wife calls me at work to let me know that the loan payment had been drafted out of our account. Needless to say she was pretty pissed... The situation was resolved a week later when I spoke directly to the clown that owned the dealership. He took a roll of 100's out of his pocket and paid my note back (approx 300 bucks) plus a little extra for my trouble. Yes a little slimey, but a cool thing to do none the less. |

The dealer says they sent the check to the credit union downtown last wednesday. The credit union says they have not received it. Dealer gave me a check# and an amount, so it doesn't sound like they're lying, but who knows. I don't trust them at all, so I just want the old loan paid off. Not sure what to do now except wait another couple days. |

By explaining my reasoning for this (not wanting two car notes out of the monthly budget) most are cool to comply. A nice follow up call thanking them for mailing it out also helps. |

It's finally been paid off !!!!!!!! I feel much better now. I also got to fill out the Jeep survey and voice my opinions on the customer service skills of the finance guy I dealt with. Hopefully they'll put him through some torturous training program. |
