Post subject:  TPM To The Rescue

Enroute home tonight I was shifting through the settings on my electonic monitor and I noted that on the TPM dispay might right rear was running about 3 degree hotter than the others. When I got home I did a walk around and the right rear smelled hot. I touched the wheel and sure enought it was warm to the touch. I guess I need to make a dealer run tomorrow.

I have an automatic and I do not use my E Brake except in rare and extreme parking situations. I thought the dragging rear brakes problem was E Brake related.

Could also be a sticky caliper.

I've had the same issue, right rear caliper stuck, noticed the wheel was warm to the touch. I had a heck of a time getting the caliper to compress. I finally persuaded it with a big closet rod. ran it through full range of operation without it sticking again so I reinstalled it and replace the pads. It has stuck once again, right rear was warm to the touch after my commute home the other day.

I will be replacing the caliper as soon as i get a chance. Wonder if its systemic.

Mine is still under warrantee but I did nothing and it didn't repeat on this mornings commute. I will keep watchig the TMP and monitor the temp. Perhaps I can catch it while it is happening to take to the dealer.

Tire Pressure Sensor Monitoring System. It doesn't monitor tire temperature, but when the temperatures increase so does the pressure. PV=nRT (ideal gas law). Basically it states that temperature and pressure increase/decrease proportionally to one another.

If it did monitor temperature, I'm not sure how much a hot rotor would affect tire temperature.

Well, it did work for me but not enough to put it into alarm. My tires were running at 37 lbs hot but the one with the dragging brake was up to 41 lbs. Today is cooler and they are staying between 34>36 lbs and no over heat on the brakes.
