Coming home from work on Friday I felt a weird sensation while braking but took her the rest of the way home. I didn't go out Saturday or anything but Sunday I jacked her up and checked the brakes. Holy Cow! The driver's side rear pad was GONE and the rotor was scored to heck and coated with fine metal shavings. The passanger side had over 50% still on her. At that point I put her back together and took her to the dealership (super close and maybe only 2 instances of braking). They called today and said there is evidence of the caliper locking. They're going to replace the rotor and pads and all on that side for free. They asked if I wanted the other done but I politely declined since it wasn't going to be done for free. Unfortunately they have to order a caliper since they don't have one. Since they're ordering. I asked if they could do the balljoint recall as well. He said they should be able to get them both done tomorrow. Wish me luck on all that. I didn't even know there was a caliper problem until I searched today. -c |

-c Are you speaking of the front caliper? I've heard of the rear locking but not the front. If it's the front, what year does it affect? |

What year and mileage do you have on the liberty? This problem seems to be popping up on 05+ libertys.. Ive not seen to many with this problem on pre-05 libertys. Glad the dealer is taking care of you.. |

I had the same problem on the passanger rear. I had to replace it. 03 with around 40K at the time. Heck we all know we are in love with a GM product its going to break. |

They replaced both rear calipers on mine at 15,000 mi., and there was a shortage of calipers on back order then, so this problem isn't anything new. |

-c At 40k I have had problems twice with the rear drivers side caliper sticking. I think the problem was simply the slide for thr break pad was corroded. and haning on a rust spot. Cleaned off and lubed so far so good. Also people are having issueswith the emergancy brake assy russting and does't release the caliper all the way. .... You may want to file an NTSB report. |

I got it back. They did 3 recalls on it as well. Balljoint, body control?, and the F31 (not F37). I got great mileage on the way to work. I was sporting like 26 but this AM it was 31. I don't know if the other rear caliper will break but I hope this new one isn't going to have a problem. I wonder if they lubed up the ebrake and all since I hear people talking about it sticking lately. -c |

I had the right front caliper on my 03 freeze up around 60000 miles, was replaced and no problems since... just turned 100000 over the weekend. |
