| Post subject: | Hella 500 piece missing...??? |
i recently purchased some Hella 500's, and i did all the wiring and everything, but then i noticed that the piece that goes inbetween the light housing and the mounting bracket is not there. There are two for each bracket, but they are not there. They allow for the lights to be moved up or down and it looks like this... is has small lines and goes right there... does anyone have some extra or know what i can do to resolve this problem?

there is no piece that goes in there. I have 6 hella 500's on my jeep and the mounting bracket just pops over ther bottom of the light |

it's about 3 quaters (money) away from the plastic part at the bottom of the light housing. is this how yours was? |

Sounds like youre not getting it tight enough. If the plastic housing isnt touching that metal bracket, nothing will be keeping the light from moving around.. Gotta tighten the bracket till it touches the plastic. Can you take a pic? |

If you can't get it tight enough try putting it in a vise and squeezing the sides a bit to close it up, or take a pair of large slip-joint plumbers pliers and squeeze the two sides together a bit. When I got mine the brackets were actually just a bit to narrow so I had to open them up some, then they worked just fine. A C-clamp will also work if you have one... |

Yep, what corwyyn said. I had to do that too. I thought I would brake it but it didn't. |

the metal bracket should be bent in enough to just pop it over the ball end on the light it self and then tighten it |

I just bought me a set of hella's from Advanced Auto Parts and the set was missing one of the mounting brackets. I took it back to advanced and they let me swap them out. Then I found out that if they have an issue like that Hella doesn't take the product back and they have to destroy it in store. Talk to the manager where you got it and you might be able to swap to a set with all the parts and offer his some cash for the lights and make your own tab. Parakeet |

you should have told that guy that you would have taken that "broken" set off of his hands and "dispose" of it for him.. |

I did and he only wanted to take 10% off. They were about 60 bucks. I offered him 30 and he wouldn't have any part of it. Parakeet |

you also might not have the bolt all the way through, there is a little notch in the bracket and a little slot on the bolt that has to go into the slot...that might help |
