ok folks, dont flare me, i know there are past postings out there, and i did a half-@zzed search, but what mixes are people using, how often/frequently, and what have your results been? i just added my first "dose" today, about 6 ounces to a full tank.....now let's see |

Why is everyone so bent on fuel mileage? You bought a Jeep not a Honda. |

dude, i love my jeep, but if i can squeeze a few more miles out of a tank full, at 500+ mile a week, it would save me some coin, maybe put that towards the mod. fund! |

I'm not critizing you or anybody else but some of these "snake oil" things are not proven and some may be harmfull to your vehicle. You got to remember our KJ's are computer controlled and don't respond well to sum mods and or cancel out them after time(computer relearning to offset performance mods).Just think of your expensive and very sensitive fuel system componets before adding something that was never ment to be burned in our vehicles that's all I ask.It takes more than just adding a "add mpg's" additive to achieve proven better mpg's,might have to do what KYLiberty did and have the PCM reprogrammed, that will do alot more then you think.

I agree 100% with this as well as your laterstate ment about the fuel system Me and my wife each drive a Jeep mine is a TJ 4.0 auto with 3.73's ,3k+ @70 mph = ,15 mpg we consider the KJ to get good milage at 22+ on the highway but we know that that will end by June when we put the bigger heavier MT/R's on and we will just live with it heck my wife just saw the 2008 F350 super duty on TV and likes them she said that she would drive one but not with duallys in the back I said "great a tow rig that can tow both jeeps at the same time and get 2mpg doing it" |

The best way to save gas is to remove the lead from your foot. Then, keep the tires well inflated, windows closed, below the speed limit. A 4200 lbs Liberty will never match the gas mileage of a 1900 lbs Civic. |

ALL else said, Acetone basically reduces surface tension of gas to help it atomize better. When it comes to newer fuel injection and injector nozzles, I don't think the acetone will make any measureable difference. Direct port injection ect...probably just a waste of money to add acetone. |

Money that could be spent on more gas...... |

I wouldn't do it, you'd probably have better luck playing with the common variables. try skinny hard tires well inflated change different gas stations (i find i get the best with Shell mobil or Amoco i.e. not Adimiral Clark Rich Coastal, etc) Change driving styles, If givine the time my liberty gets low 20's at 65 mph cruising, but i can't stand going down the highway at 65. Air filter, Plugs, PVC valve, etc remove excess weight don't tow anything, take the hitch off (keep it sell it for gas money, etc), don't go off-road, remove skid plates, remove the 100 lbs of tools that find their way into the back, etc. |

I think this post ought to be squashed right now as I know there is a very long thread about this in the mileage section. *AHEM, Mr. Moderator*? Acetone gives mixed results, so the best we can do is agree to disagree on this one, before tempers start flaring and this place gets ugly real quick! Okey-dokee? |

It has been mentioned before, and probably a few times before that. But if you dont let people rehash things every now and then we will just end up with a bunch of stickys at the top of every forum, and then everytime someone asks a question all you will see is read the sticky's read the sticky's! And forums like that suck. There is no new exchange of ideas and the forum just dies. Now moving it to the other thread wouldnt hurt I suppose. |

Im hoping that I will get a few mpg out of the B&G computer flash.. Kyliberty said he gained a few, but hes done many other things to his liberty that helps.. |

I have the aggressive flash, not the gas miser. I got the milage increase from the hood. Have to clean the air filter every few thousand miles though. Gets a ton of cold air to a cone, especially when sealed off from the rest of the engine bay. The aggressive flash can give you a little better gas milage, but increasing the performance of a vehicle generally tends to cause lead foot, and you end up losing economy. |

My experience with acetone a few years back was about a 3.5 mpg increase for highway driving on road trips with 6 oz. added to a full tank, however, when adding it and just driving to work through the week, it did nothing. I assume it my have just evaporated from sitting in the tank all week. Anyway, here is a link on Acetone for you. http://www.lubedev.com/smartgas/ |

These guys aren't usually ill informed. http://www.cartalk.com/content/columns/Archive/2006/January/08.html The cartalk guys have a decent reputation. None of the resources I have seen online ragarding acetone in gasoline had any credentials worth noting(no major university studies, environmental orgs, or industry think tanks). |

From their page: TOM: Here's our final reason not to use it: It dissolves paint. So if you slip and spill a little bit outside your fuel filler door, you'll have a nice, unpainted line running down to the bottom edge of your rear quarter panel. When we see you drive by, we'll know you didn't take our advice! Whatever |

Whatever Your probably right, but over the course of a year or two of sloppily filling your tank, I can see the paint finish coming off and your paint beginning to wear thin in the area. but, their comments about the effectiveness of acetone seem to go contrary to a whole bunch of anonymous, unscientific, unjuried, individual researchers who are posting in the web. |

i found a long neck used nail polish remover bottle to be ideal for puttin it in your tank with no worries about splashing. im proud to be one of those "non scientific" guys that has seen the theoretical stuff actually happen. i have no idea why other people are trying to rain on our parade with stuff they read or saw and not have any actual experience with. hate to tell ya pal, even the Mythbusters have been wrong, and this is one of those times. if i can actually drive back and forth to town more trips on a tank of gas then whatever the nonbelievers are saying is totally irrelevant, in this, and every single other thread on the same or similar topics. |
