diff breathers are to let the pressure equalize bewteen the atmosphere and inside the differential.
with a pressure difference, you could possibly suck moisture (water) in, or spew fluid out.
the thing on the end is there to limit, large amounts of containments into the tube.
So I found a little info on the internet. Hopefully I have this right.
The differential has to breathe.
The breather could be right on the differential, but this could suck when going through water.
So.......a hose it attached to the breather and routed to the firewall near my battery. That way the diff can still breathe, but the opening is way up near the battery so you can go thru water without sucking it in.
The little knob on top isn't something that you turn to open or close. It is just a little valve that responds to pressure. Turning it does nothing.
Did I get it right?
