I always shut off whatever I'm listening to on obstacles so I can concentrate and hear the spotter if applicable. So for me, just make a CD of silence.

Cool topic! I'm up for it! :D
I once got to live for 48 hrs in an undersea experimental platform (OK, so it was an oil drum converted to a habitat under 30' of water in a lagoon but it was still cool! 8) )
and we made a tape (remember those?) of "Sea" Songs....... (Just thought I'd throw that in....)

So:
Riders on the Storm - Doors
"Theres a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin like a toad"

Sail Away (calms me while driving)

Springsteen (Need I say more?)

Thunder Road
"All the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now?
Except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair
Well the night's busting open
This two lanes will take us anywhere
We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels
Climb in back, Heaven's waiting on down the tracks "

Born To Run
"In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on highway 9,
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected and steppin' out over the line "

Jersey Girl
"Tonight I'm gonna take that ride
Across the river to the Jersey side
Take my baby to the carnival
And I'll take her on all the rides "

Radar Love - (Obviously great for rainy drives)

Convoy (Heh! )

Bat Out of Hell - Meatloaf
Paradise by the Dashboard Lights and just about any other song from the "Bat Out of Hell" album

Beach Boys - Car Songs Album:

1. I Get Around
2. Little Deuce Coupe
3. Shut Down
4. Fun, Fun, Fun
5. This Car Of Mine
6. Help Me Rhonda
7. 409
8. Drive In
9. Then I Kissed Her
10. Little Honda
11. Custom Machine
12. Spirit Of America

Simon & Garfunkel songs
(I pass by thier neighborhood almost every day. You'd be surprised how many times one of thier songs comes on as I pass thier high school!)

Chicago

Eagles

Styx

Well, I think that's a good start from me!

Golden Earring or White lion?

I'm not too picky. Don't care for much country or rap, but I'll listen to just about anything.

Led Zeppelin anything, but especially "The Battle of Evermore" off of Houses of the Holy
"Born to Run" - Bruce Springsteen
"Jessica" - The Allman Brothers
"Tainted Love" - Soft Cell
"Like a Stone" - Audioslave
Lots and lots more, but I'm too lazy to keep clicking back and forth between iTunes and here...
but, the number one offroading song is "The Distance" by Cake, and it's soley because of this video:

Electronic/Techno music. Keep it to a low/medium volume and go at it!

CW McCall is always on the wheeling play list!
Classics like CCR, Johny Cash, etc are always good.
But, especially when in Area BFE I will through in some good old punk rock.

My tastes are soooooo varied you are likely to hear anything from AKUS to Zebra Head coming from our rigs.

Saw the Killers 3 days ago, Citizen Cope tonight, and Derick Trucks will be Sunday....Music is the sound track to life!!!!

For really beautiful scenic views, ocean surfs, wine country, etc. I put on: Yanni - Ethnicity, or Deep Forest (Deep Forest, Comparsa, Boheme).

For fast driving on desert dirt roads, dust flying everywhere: Chemical Brothers (Loops of Fury, for example), Front-242 (Head Hunter), Future Sound of London (We have Explosives), or Funker Vogt.

For mountainous terrains: Echoes of Incas (Sacred Valley).

For rain and snow, dark nights, etc.: Zamfir, Cusco, Jean Michel Jarre.

Normal day to day driving, 9-to-5 grind: various techno, Art of Noise (The Best of Art of Noise), Kraftwerk to geek it up.

I'm more of a silence listener when I'm actually driving off-road. But on the way there...let's call it eclectic...here are a few favorites:

Blues Traveler - "Mountain Cry," "Optimistic Thought," too many to list...
Caroline's Spine - "Work Song" or "Psycho"
Charles Darden - Anything he plays
Craig Morgan - "Little Bit Of Life" or "I Am"
Disturbed - "Stupify"
Harry Connick, Jr. - "Next Door Blues"...and everything else he does
Iron Maiden - "Hallowed Be Thy Name," "Powerslave," too many to list...
Jeremy Camp - "Take My Life"
Josh Turner - "Would You Go With Me"
Louis Armstrong - everything he's ever done
Metallica - "Damage, Inc.," "Dyers Eve," too many to list...
Nicole C. Mullen - "I Am" (not to be confused with Craig Morgan's track with the same title)
One Minute Silence - "Brainspiller"
The Presidents Of The United States Of America - "Back Porch"
Rush - "2112"
Soul Coughing - "Paint"
Tsychovsky - too much to list...

Okay, I'll stop now...

Since this topic is actually getting hits and a huge amt of songs, How bout everyone posts just 2 favorite songs....
We vote, and the top 30 or so votes get a cd cut which we could distribute.......?

Author:  dirtykj [ Thu Jun 07, 2007 3:52 pm ]
Post subject:

How about we not actually "cut a CD" and even better not "distribute"? :) :) :) :)

Just the list alone should be sufficient.
