Does anyone know what the difference is between these series' and the regular hella stuff? What is the benafit of the optilux offroad lights compared to the same sized, shaped regular Hella version?

More specifically... I have Hella FF75s on my roof rack. the Hella Optilux 1200 is about the same size, but I can get a set of the fogs for very cheap. Just trying to find out if they are crap.

Anyone ever run the headlight bulbs? (we use 9007, right?)

I am in the same boat. Wanted to bring this topic back assuming you might have gotten your answer elsewhere.

I know many people have Hella 500s as driving lights, and although I consider them first, I am also looking for something in black housing, or a little bit smaller, to go to the roof.

I came up with three options. Hella 500s, Rallye 4000 and Hella Optilux 1300s. 1900 would be overkill at 100W.
4000s do not come with relay/harness, so that's added cost, makes it over $100 a pair, and with 4 lights it is pricy, but looks very good.
1300s are smaller, almost half of 500s, but they would mimic the look of mopar light bar, and somewhat easier to mount. And I don't think they come with harness, either.

Any comments?
Thanks.

You can use the Hella headlight bulbs (from a supply store you'll find them cheaper then at walmart or Kmart. Bulbs are about $8 cdn from my parts store here in Atlantic canada.

You can get versions white or blue light upto 130 watts, not suggested though with plastic lenses. I tried in my jetta and melted my wire connectors...

Opt.. are a cheaper version...

i have a pair of really small optilux lamps under my front bumper, IMO, they are a cheaper, smaller collection of lights, not the same size or quality as the standard Hella ones.
