is the spare on tight? I could see that causing some noise/rattling if it wasn't. |

There is a way to adjust the rear door. I posted some pics on how to do it but have no clue where they would be.. |

My KJ had the same problem, did a little off roading and rattle went away, knock on wood, and it hasn't been back since. |

My 06 did the same thing when I bought it. I took it into the dealer 4 or 5 times to get it fixed and everytime the said they greased down all the hinges and tighten up bolts it would go away for about a week and then come back. I finally just said forget it and have dealt with it since. You kinda get used to it after a while. I'll live, unless someone on here has a sure fix it will probably stay that way. |

When you open the tailgate there is the latch bracket on the right hand side. This is where the tailgate latches when closed. When my tailgate was rattling I adjusted the position of this latch and the rattle went away. I have not had any rattling for about 3-4 months since I made this adjustment. |

I have this also. After the service tech screwed around with the door for 30 minutes in the entry to the dealership, we learned it was body flex from the weight of the spare tire. However, mine is almost six years old now. I have a hard time thinking that could be the issue on newer ones. |

Can't you tighten them from inside the swing gate? I wrapped a couple of wraps of electrical tape around the swing glass latchey thing and no more rattle. |

Yup just got an 07 Libby shipped to me. Rear hatch is driving me nuts. Gonna try that adjustment thing. Two nuts on holding that black adjuster thingy might do it. I'm going to try it this weekend. Other suggestions welcome, the roads here are too rough to keep listening to that rattle. |

I thought mine was rattling too. I swore the noise was comming from the hatch. It turned out it was the rear seat backs where then latch onto the square ring. I just greased everything up and it finally went away (after a couple years of living with it!) |

It can't be that complicated. There has to be an easier way. I'll bet that thing with the loud radio works really good. |

Okay I tried the tape thing, that didnt work. There are some roads here, but half the time I'm off the road. Not sure if hitting more bumps is a good idea, but it sounds like fun. That whole welding thing sounds like too much work. Adjusting the bracket might work, I'll have to give that a try. Ultimatly I think a couple of motor mounts shoved into the rear gate should do the trick. But that stereo trick works everytime. |

My right side of my gate was rattling against the body. I adjusted the "plastic thingy" on the body below the latch and no more noise! It took 1 minute to do: loosened two screws, slide the plastic thingy toward the rear a 1/4", and tightened back up. Now how do I fix my squeaky passenger seat... |

Yep, my '07 rattled a bit too. With the door open, look on the passenger side of the opening. There's a black metal bracket there with plastic covers that helps support the weight of the door when closed. The door has the other piece, and there's rubber bushings on there. I put some white lithium grease on the surfaces that contact when the door is closed, and the noise is gone. To see if your problem is the same, take a strip of napkin or paper towel, fold it over a couple of times (not thick), and fold it around the mating surfaces of the bracket in the door opening. Close the door and drive it. If it's gone, put some grease on there and see what happens. Messing with strike/braket/hinge adjustment can cause way more problems than it's worth if not done extremely carefully. Try the simple things first. |
