dont ask me, it was the spare on the back when i bought it......it also had a hole that I plugged which is why I assume it had been put on as the spare.......though Im thinking it was taken off the car because of this problem....

It also has quite a bit more tread than the other tires, so this may have happened a while back....

Is that what happens when you pump 60psi to these tires?

Heat damage from exhaust? Possibly sat on the right rear and a bad exhaust situation perhaps?

on both sides of the tire?

the inside wall showed less damage then the outside

Is the same location for both sides showing the damage? Perhaps it sat flat for a long time, was moved a little and sat flat for awhile again.

Just some guesses.

I have the SR/A's and did Moab with them in 2005. Aired down to 18 psi while doing the trails there.

Looks like the belt/side wall just failed. Cheap tires IMHO.. Probably would of gotten you hurt if you were going down the HW with that and didnt notice it..

Another good reason to never use Goodyear.. Ill never use Goodyear again..

The stockers are crap. First thing I did when I bought my CRD was take it to the tire dealer and they gave me trade in credit on for new meats. I learned this on a previous jeep I owned, had goodyears too, that disappointed me out wheeling for 2 years until the stock tires wore out. After replacement, just the tires alone changed how I could use my jeep.

By the way, those stock tires probably contributed to how you got that libby in the first place...

No, only a minor bulge on the inside where the most of it was on the outside.

I do not think the tire was being used prior to the rollover, I did manage to find some of the PO contact information so I may give them a call about it and ask them how it happneed etc.

The tire also had a nail of screw hole in it that caused it to leak all air VERY fast. its possible it went flat and sat on the ground, but I have seen tires that sat flate for years without seperating like this one did.......

Yea, I understand that.. But both the GoodYear HP's that I have on my Jeep and the SRA's that others have suck when they start to get miles on them. Mine were great at first, but now they are slick as snot.. Its hard to pull out when its raining and Im usually easy on the throttle.

Ive just had better luck with other brands and I do not understand why GoodYear would make TWO sets of tires that are no good when they wear down. I also understand that other tire makers have bad sets of tires too, but Ive had better luck with other brands..

Sorry for the OT.. :)

It looks like there are some rabid hamsters trying to bust out of that sucker! LOL

I always hear that its scary how thin the sidewalls are on these tires. If you find out the stroy on that one let us know.
