Yea my factory alarm is okay with the keyless entry but as soon and I just used the key to open the door the alarm goes off like I'm trying to steal it. Kind of embarassing. It used to do it once and a while but now it is everytime it is just getting out of hand. Especially since I have the keyless entry and the wife has to use a key I hear about it all day long |

Get another remote? They're cheap on ebay. There's instructions around here somewhere on how to program it. I think it's supposed to work like that. I just have keyless entry but i think you need to use the remote to disarm the alarm. |

My does the same thing, but it's not supposed to work like that. The alarm will go off if I open the drivers door after unlocking it with the key, but it only does it about half the time. Never a problem if I open the passanger door with the key first or If I use the remote. The dearler has easily spent $1000 in parts and labor and still hasn't been able to fix this problem and a problem I have with the rear latch no always unlocking with the key. I've gotta run, but I'll post the parts they've replaced that didn't work later. |

Maybe it's and engineering design flaw in the alarm system? Did it always do that? |

Okay ... The dealer thought the two problems I was having were related. I can't find a part # for what they first tried to do. Basically they replaced part on the rear latch system thinking it would fix both problems ... it did not. They then tried replacing the Body Controller Module (BCM) thinking this would fix the rear latch issues and possibly fix the alarm problems ... no such luck. Not sure where to go from here. I do think there's some kind of switch or sensor in the driver's door itself. I bought the KJ used back in 2005, and if it hasn't always done it, it started shortly after I bought it. |

My alarm has went off twice when using the key. I always use the key to unlock my door. Ive noticed on my moms 06 Grand, If you unlock the door with the key the alarm ALWAYS goes off.. You MUST use the key fob to unlock the door.. |

If you have the factory alarm, and lock it with the driver's side power lock, or with the key fob, it will arm the alarm. If you don't want to arm the alarm, you have to lock it with the key. I think the front passenger power lock doesn't arm it either, but need to check. I can't remember because I always use the key fob, and the front driver's power lock to avoid scratches that I have to see every time I get into the Jeep. I also like having an alarm, but that doesn't constantly go off. An alarm that's not responded to is worthless. Of course, the police car next door helps too. |

If you are having this problem disarming the alarm, you will probably also notice that the interior lights haven't come on when you unlocked the drivers door with the key as well. If the lights do come on, then you know the alarm turned off. If you have no lights on, cover your ears. Could any of you that are having this problem let me know if this holds true for you too. I assume the interior lights and the alarm system either share a common connection/part within the door lock itself, or somewhere else in a control module. Because I sometimes have this problem and other times it works fine, I think there also could be some kind of bad connection or bad wire. |

Doesn't it chirp the horn, then completely sound if you don't put the key into the ignition within a few seconds? |

No warning that the alarm is going to go off other than looking in the window and noticing the lights haven't come on. Also, in the manual it says you can either use the remote or you can use the key to unlock any of the doors and the alarm will be disarmed. So something is certainly a little funky with some of these alarm systems. I am considering just asking for a second remote if they can't fix this problem, but I would prefer that it were fixed. |

"Possible Fix" They tested the switch in my drivers door lock. I was told that the current output from the switch was the reverse of what it should be. They reversed the wiring on Monday while they waited for a replacement part to come in, and then replaced the switch Wednesday morning. So far I have not had this issue act up since they played with the wiring and then replace the part. I'm going to have to hold my breath though. Last time I thought this was fixed everything worked for about a week before the alarm acted up again. Anyway, so far so good. The part# on my receipt is 5072957-AA and the description says "Switch SE 8053002". I hope this helps. I will be sure to post back if the problem comes back. |
