I have the mopar rear hitch. Would the hitch mounted bike carrier stick out far enough to clear the spare tire?

I bought a Reese hitch carrier. It is about 1/2" too short to clear the tire. So I used my hitch extension which put it out really far and added an extra joint to wiggle.

Then when you tip it down there isn't enough room to open the gait.

I will be selling it and getting a tire mount carrier.

Bob

I have a 4 bike Thule and it does. On the OEM hitch it mounts too tall to allow the back door to swing open with the carrier folded down though. I have pieces to build an adapter to drop it down 2" without having it stick out back further but I haven't done it yet. Most of the time I can reach what I need from the bback through the flipper or the backseat.

I have a 4-bike Thule, and it just barely hits the tire. I also have a Hollywood 2-bike carrier which does not fit at all. So we bought an 8" hitch extender and I'll be trying it tonight.
