Since the wedding and new house happened, I've been ona very tight budget for the Jeep. Pretty much anything more than $10 needs permission from the wife. But today was a good day... I FAILED MY INSPECTION!!!! UBJs are shot, front brakes are almost below spec, tie-rod end ball-joint is way too loose. End result is that I now have permission for Al's arms, powerslots, & EBC Greenstuff pads. WOOHOOO! I don't know of any aftermarket tie-rod ends for a KJ, but I don't really think it's a part that can be substantially upgraded. |

You can get Moog greaseble tie-rod ends. Miah hasnt been on jeepkj in along time but he got them.. Idk where he got them either.. I popped my tie-rod ends out a couple months ago and filled them with grease. If you cannot find the greasable moogs, I believe its a good idea to fill the end s with grease before putting them on the Jeep. be sure to get an alignment after getting everything replaced. Are the Greenstuff pads ceramic? I recommend ceramic pads for low dusting and the longevity they provide backed with excellent performance. How many miles are on your Jeep? |

Just under 90k miles. Per the EBC webpage, they are Kevlar pads laced with ceramic. |

Sounds like they are good pads. I cannot find the greasable moogs, but I did find THIS... Go to Jeep, liberty, steering, then tierod's. The regular moogs are $30 a piece.. Not that bad at all. |

I don't recommend ceramic pads. those things will ruin your rotors. i've seen it a few times. Get the mix pads instead. |

The last pads i used before i installed the greensfuff pads were semi metallic ones. After a week the wheels were covered in black brake dust like you wouldn't believe. The dust from the greenstuff pads seems to clean off alot easier too. I bought my libby used so i can't compare to the stock ceramic pads. |

Gris, Was this a state inspection? We don't have anything like that here -- I think -- unless you register a vehicle from another state. |

It is far easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. May all your ups & downs and ins & outs happen betweent the sheets. |

At least your failure was for items that could be a real problem. I have gotten gigged before when it was the lightbulb that worked fine when I dropped it off but was not working when the inspected it. |

anyone know what the current status of Al's shop is? I ordered the arms Monday afternoon via the web-page with Paypal, but haven't heard anything back yet. I know the new folks are running it, but not sure how actively they are doing so. |

was a good weekend. I installed Al's arms, new Napa rotors, EBC greenstuff pads, moog greasable tie-rod ends, and got it all aligned. Kinda pissed about the inspection now. I took of my old pads (That were "so close to failure" the mechanic didn't want me to leave) only to find out that there was at least 3/16 - 1/4" left on every pad. I figured that I already had new pads, had the thing apart, no reason not to replace them, but it could have easily gone another 10-15,000 miles before they were comprimised. |

Where did you end up finding the greasable tie-rod ends? I knew they existed but cannot find them online. Sucks about the pads.. They must be really anal about those or something.. How is the braking now? Has is improved any? |
