Well, for starters gapping is easy. You can get gapping pliers at most auto stores. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... sum-900313 As far as not gapping certain plugs I have no idea about that. |

This is from the Bosch website. When I changed the plugs on my 3000GT I didn't have to gap them. "Most Bosch Spark Plugs are factory pre-gapped for popular vehicle applications. The gap measurements are indicated either on the box, or by the part number located on the spark plug shell. X suffix = .044" Y suffix = .060" Z suffix = .080" Gaps should never by adjusted on Platinum+4 or Platinum2. Bosch Platinum+4 and Platinum2 have factory pre-set gaps, and should never be gapped by the installer. Bosch Platinum and Super Spark Plugs also have factory-set gaps. For most plugs, the setting is shown on the plug package. These gaps are correct for the most popular applications of these plugs. There are applications, however, for which the gap setting has to be adjusted according to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications. |

i agree. i would gap anyway just to be sure. Only plugs i've seen that you wouldn't gap are the Bosch Platinum 2's or 4's. Those you do not gap because of the configuration of the ground electrodes. See here.http://jobs.boschusa.com/AutoParts/SparkPlugs/ Other than that, check the gap. It's easy and then you're sure. DON'T FORGET TO USE ANTI SEEZE on the plug threads! |

As a machinist who watches what kind of crap his co-workers send out as "in spec" parts, I say, "CHECK THE GAP!" |

I gapped my recent (last weekend) set of plugs to .44 It's wonderful what a new set of plugs can do to any engine. |

I gapped them to what the factory spec is. You can see it right on the front sticker when you open the hood. I ran Bosch Plats and a few were gapped about .001-.002 inches smaller than what stock wanted.

Always gap them. They get thrown around and often the gap is to tight. Also remember not to put any force on the center electroid as this will damage it. Also never listen to anyone at the auto parts store. If they really knew anything about cars or parts they would be at a better job. If you ever want to have fun try to get spark plugs for a 2003 dodge ram 4x4 inline 6 cyl diesel. Most times the will try to look it up. Or ask for a radiator hose for a 1969 VW bug. |

Isn't that like asking for a water pump on a Chevy 350? LOL The plugs on the liberty are so easy to change (wish I would have realized that sooner) that I can never see myself needing anything but stock replacement plugs that are correctly gapped every 20K - 25K miles. |
