I just talked to DPG-off road and was told that only 5 people ordered snorks! I thought this was going to happen, guess not. If he doesn't get more people to order then the snorks are staying in Aussy-land. I am a little dissappointed that so few people ordered given the excitement leading up to the pre-ordering. Please people, help get these snorks to the USA.

Stephen

haha, thats true.. Alot of times people get all excited about things like that, but when it comes time to pay up it seems like its alittle more expensive than they thought it would be..

I didn't buy the JKS disconnects until they were just discontinued ;) Companies have to expect few initial sales until the product has been tested by the few early adopters. Look at DVDs, HDTV, Blu-Ray, XP x64, . In the case of the JKS disconnects and 7 Up Lift, the product never took off due to the bad initial reviews. I'd buy the snorkel right now if I were told it was being discontinued, but until then I want some other people to test it before drilling a hole in my fender.

IMHO...too expensive compared to snorkels available for other off-road vehicles. Besides, I am focused on a few other products that make me more off-road capable.

I'd get one but since the wife drives the Jeep as well I think I'd be forbidden to even entertain the idea. Wouldn't really need it much anyway it would just be cosmetic for me. I think they look cool as hell and if we ever get her her own vehicle I'll be there waiting.

I have no use for one,my stock air box has been long gone. They are kinda useless to unless you do all the other mods required to even warrent a snorkel, then your looking at about $1000-$2000(easy) for the rest of the mods.

Send a PM to Fouros..you can buy them direct from him, you will pay a little more but if you don't want to wait its the best way to go..I doubt DPG will ever get enough to warrant a group buy...so if you want one you better order it..this looks like it wil be another item that will be discontinued because lack of interest. I just don't understand how so many people could want something..then just not get it. The Vendor jumps thru hoops to get it made then it just dies on the vine..then the community turns around and gets upset with the vendor because they don't want to make them anymore...whats wrong with this picture???

If everyone who said they wanted the product bought it the first day, then it would be discontinued anyway. There would be no demand following that first day. A lot of people may want the snorkel, but that doesn't mean it's the first mod on their list. I still want a snorkel, but not before I redo my pads and rotors. How many parts does the average KJ owner purchase per year? It's not the customer's responsibility to satisfy the vendor, but rather the other way around. It would be like Sony saying, "Everyone said they wanted HD movies, but they're still buying DVD and not Blu-ray. We've decided to discontinue Blu-ray." A snorkel is a very low volume item from the start and people aren't going to purchase it until they see the community running it, hence early adopters. For example, the community sells the Frankenlift, not All J Products.

I have to agree with Unixxx. It's just not conceivable to dump that much money instantly as soon as a product becomes available. Also, to sell these types of products, it's almost exclusively word of mouth. I have yet to see an add in any 4wd mag for products related to the liberty.

The other issue is the number of POSSIBLE sales these companies can realisticly expect. The KJ as we know is no longer being made. A 5 year life span may mean several milloin (I think i heard 8 million) vehicles, but how many grocery getters are gonna want bull bars and snorkles?

I have a 2007 and i have yet to see ANY front bumpers for the 2007 and it's fog light placement. not a big issue, i will most likely get some sort of 06 grille and use something for an 06, if i can.

Look at the CJ's (and TJ's), Christ how many of those things are on the roads and how long were they built?

XJ's, the same thing. took years for XJ's to get the neat stuff they have out now.

Maybe a few more years worth of factory warentees need to run out before vendors will see an increasing market for aftermarket parts for the KJ.

so to expect some one with a vehicle still under a factory warentee to cut a hole in their fender might be a bit of a strech. If i had my XJ back, look out there would be holes all over that thing.

Just my 2 cents worth.....
