I don't see a heavy duty alternator in the pic.

From the pic I see you want to install a compressor and a power converter. Why not make a list of all the components you’re installing?

Unixx, 1 bit of advice from my experience...

Don't slope the back of the box. At least not the complete length of the back.

If you come straight down, it will leave a pocket between the back of the seat and the box. Ideal for hiding things or keeping fragile things that you need to keep in the car from getting knocked around.

As far as 10days, yup. my pair took about 4 hours to build and a couple more for the carpet glue to set

Are you going to add in any fans/ventilation to keep all those Hot things cool when they are running?

valvestem, a Mean Green 200A alternator and dual Odyssey AGM batteries will be the next step ;)

Craig, the back of the box needs to be sloped to fit the air tank and compressor, but I should have some extra room inside the box for now  I envy your assembly time!

JJsKJ, I'm going to add a few 12V PC fans and leave some space between the components for airflow.

Maximum Carnage, from left to right:

Back: Statpower (Xantrex) Prowatt 1500 inverter, Oasis 6 gallon air tank, Viair 550C compressor, C-Comp Jeep PC, Alpine PXA-H701 DSP, Alpine MRP-F450 amp
Middle: Boxes of screws, Blue Sea 100A fuse block, 18AWG, 10AWG, and 6AWG Ancor marine cable, Viair pressure switch, relay, air filter, and various other fittings, Powertank adjustable safety valve and various fittings, ARB fittings and solenoids, Kilby 35ft coil hose, Loctite 569 pneumatic thread lock, McMaster BSPT to NPT fittings
Front: Oasis Inflator and various fittings, Craftsman 150 psi safety valve, 11 packages of Ancor crimp terminals, Kilby adjustable pressure regulator, various tie wraps, Kilby liquid filled pressure gauges, ARB wire splicers, Kilby hose, various fittings, and manifold

I still need some 110 circuit breakers, red cable, and various crimp terminals.

Have you looked into M1/M2-ATX power supplies from minibox.com or logicsupply.com? They don't need power inverter and can hook directly into the 12V batter line, and have built-in voltage regulartor and thump-proof circuitry for the audio out. They can also hold a few seconds' worth of power for orderly shutdown.

See here.

(Pretty sure you looked at this before)

dirtykj, the PC is currently running an Opus 120W smart power supply. Since the inverter has been lying around the house for six years, I figured I'd add it to power miscellaneous portable stuff. I can also plug my freezer and fridge into it when the power goes out. Notice the makeshift jumper cables from a previous power outage

Gris makes a good point. If I hadn't made the back of mine at an angle, I'd have the perfect place to stow a rifle when we go plinking.

That's a lot of sweet gear. I am interested in the specs for the Jeep PC. That isn't the same one you had in there before is it? I thought it had a plexi-glass case.

hallb4, the Jeep PC is a slight upgrade from the Lexan prototype. It utilizes the Mini-ITX form factor and an Intel Pentium M instead of the Micro-ATX form factor and an AMD Athlon. The new configuration has equivalent performance while being smaller and requiring half the power.

OK, the Jeep PC looks like a neat thing 8) – where do you keep the monitor and key board? Do you run GPS apps or what?

A Xenarc touchscreen LCD is mounted on the dash and the keyboard has been removed. 95% of the time the PC is used for music; the other 5% of the time it's used for navigation and mapping.

YOU ARE NUTS!!!!

Looks cool, but just how much weight are you adding to the booty end with all that 3/4 ply and tankls etc......?

What kind of music do you listen too?

Lookin good!!

Im also curious on the weight of this thing.

Do you believe you will need air bags? I have a sub that weighs 75lbs and it drops the rear a 1/4in with the OME HD rear coils. I think you are going to be over 75lbs.

WoodysKJ, the box itself will be less than the weight of one 4'x8' piece of 5/8" plywood. The compressor weighs 19 lb, tank less than 10 lb, audio equipment less than 10lb, and inverter 8.25 lb. Still less weight than one small person in a back seat. I may need airbags or custom springs if everything starts sagging over time  I listen to all rock 8)

Jeepjeepster, how well did the airbags recover the lift?

So did you finish your front end you were working on? Also, did you get anywhere on issuing commands over the vehicle PCI bus? I have done some BSD driver development and I am interested in how far you have gotten.

You sure have a lot of projects going on at once! (You need to update your mp3car worklog too BTW )

Yes, it will lift it right up..Ive never needed more than 15psi and they can take 35psi.. The more air I put in, the higher it goes. 8)

CLICK

Thats the air bags I have.. They are not made for a liberty but the bags they make for the liberty will not work with a lifted Jeep. Those bags will probably not work with the rustys springs since those springs are not as big as the stock or OME springs. I have the OME HD springs and they work out great. 8)

They should also work if you have the extra spring isolators..

hallb4, the front end will be a constant work in progress. It works perfectly as an audio player now and even has a Java Applet configuration utility. The PCI bus command software will come later this year when I have more time. I'll be sure to fix my mp3car work log and keep everyone updated. Too many projects is the story of my life

Jeepjeepster, thanks for the airbag info. I'll probably buy a pair soon.

Here are some pictures of the primed box. If it looks good in black I won't carpet it.
