While looking underneath my '04 KJ for a clue as to why the e-brake has never worked, I noticed that the driver's side axle seal is leaking, and quite a bit. Needless to say, I'm really disappointed to see this with only 22,000 mile's on it. I've made an appointment for the seal to be replaced under warranty, but I'd like to know if the Crysler 8.25 axle (non-ABS) is prone to this? I have 160K miles on my '94 XJ, and I'm still on the original axle seals with the ABS Dana 35....I hope this isn't a trend.... |

I had a passenger side axel seal go on my front axles after 25K. Had it replaced under warranty without any hassle about the lift, tires or skids. Just one of those things |

Ventura, I'm an unlucky with Dana 35 too. Do you have the no-slip? How does it behave. My axle seals leaked after the second no-slip install and I replace bearings seals and races. This was at 32K |

Unfortunately it's an open axle - we bought it off the lot, so we were lucky to get the options we got and not have a bunch of BS thrown on top. I can always throw a Trac-Loc in when I "inheret" the Libby - it's the wife's car right now (I always get the hand me downs!). My XJ is a hand me down too, which is why it's an automatic and has ABS - both of which I hate with a passion, and why the Liberty is non-ABS and a stick! I made sure to plan ahead this time! If it's just "one of those things", then I suppose I can live with that. I hope the leaking fluid is what is keeping my e-brake adjuster from working.... |

Just replaced my axles seals on my 02 KJ at 40,000 miles. Pass side was leaking but replaced both as part of good practice. Takes about an hour, a 13mm socket and 8mm wrench. And a BFH and BF screwdrive to remove and replace the seals. Recommend NAPA's seals. They sure look better than DC's. 8.25. |

Hmmm.....I'll ask again - is this a common problem with ChryCo 8.25's? Have yet to do it with my Dana 35, and of all the GM c-clip axles I've had, I've never had to do this so early - all were at least 100K miles... |

Lilmatty, Do you know the part number to the NAPA rear axle seals? My NAPA dealer doesn't stock them. |
