My air bag light is stuck on and the stealership says I need a new pax seat belt collision locking mechanism for 5 hundred something dollars. I'm in Seattle, the nearest part is in SanFran and w/ the 4th of July will take days to get... rental cars aside do you think this is legit? I don't really have much choice :(

This is more of a bump than anything else...but you may want to be a little more specific about what is going on. Which airbag light is on, the one on the passenger grab handle or the idiot light on the dash? What is a "pax seat belt collision locking mechanism"?

There is the weight system that works the PAB (relating to childern)

There is the unbuckled indicator that triggers the dash light for the driver

What is the PAX? I don't know and I worked at Chrysler!!!

That's one of the reasons i asked which light was on. The idiot light on my dash was going on intermittently at first, then stayed on. Turns out the wires that run from the seat belt connector on the drivers side to the harness under the seat were being pinched by the power seat motors. A soldering iron, some duct tape and 20 minutes later and the problem was fixed.

Mine is an 02, pre in seat weight sensor. Anyways when I got it back from the dealer my light is off so I'm happy. I was just wondering if they were bullshitting me about needing this part.
