Anyone have and use a Highlift jack on their KJ? Where are the lift points? Do you need any special attachments? Thanks

Not to be mean - but do a search and you'll find a ton of threads on Hi-Lifts.

Quick answers:

1. Depending on your year a 48" jack will fit under your back seat.
2. You can't use the jack on the factory rocker panels or even the factory rails without crushing them. You can use them if you have aftermarket rock rails (providing they are strong enough). If you have a rear hitch it's also possible (although really unstable/unsafe) to lift from it.
3. You can use the adaptor Hi-Lift sells for lifting from the wheel.
4. Here's a link to a dohickey I had fab'd up to work without rock rails.

Good luck!

I don't see why the stock rock rails would be crushed using a highlift jack. If you can land on them with impact, you surely could lift it up from a non-impact status. My guess would be they wouldn't be very safe to lift with since they are round and probably don't make it a stable and solid lift point if the lift barely fits on the rail.

When I wrote that I was thinking more of the flimsy nerf bars...

Maybe you are right - but I think I've read in past threads that the OEM's aren't that stout.

Prior to getting Boulder Bars, when I was experimenting with my Hi-Lift adaptor I tried it without the wood that distributes the load. As soon as I cranked it up just a hair it started bending the pinch weld immediately. I even creased the outer skin before I noticed it was happening. D'oh.

Since we're sharing, here are a couple shots of my test of the new rails.

Good lift points for my rig also include the front receiver hitch (with and without shackle). The rear hitch is nice if the swing gate is open or an extention is placed in the hitch.

[Hey phxtoad!]

Can you be more specific, i.e. can my 2006 fit a 48" under the back seat? Good to know before I buy one.

Post subject:  Under Seat

Wow - I'm not sure on an '06 - please chime in anyone. I think they modified the rear seat so that it folded flatter than on the early KJ's. I think I remember posts saying this limited fitting a Hi-Lift under there...

As it is, I still have to pull mine out if I fold my seat down. Since I also stuff a bunch of the other gear under the seats.

48" Hilift will fit under the backseat of an 05 and I think that's when they changed the seat design.
(although don't try to fold it down afterwards)

A 48" will fit under my rear seat, but like all the others, the seat wont fold down.
