| Post subject: | Driver's side seat track... |
Anyone ever replace one of these themselves? My driver's seat needs to have the track assembly replaced. (Dealer wanted >$500 to get part and do the work. I found the part on-line for half that.) Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! |

It should just be 4 bolts holding it to the floor |

Maybe it's just the '05's, but there are bolts on three corners (15mm socket) and the fourth corner goes onto a bolt sticking out of the floor. Either way it takes all of about 10 minutes to get a seat out of the jeep. You'll also need a T-40 torx bit to get the seatbelt off the seat, its underneath the trim on the outside of the seat. Trim is all attached with phillips head screws, nothing fancy there. Its been a while since i swapped tracks, but i think there are a total of 8 bolts attaching the track to the seat. Three on each side and two in the back I don't think they all take the same socket tho, but they like everything else they are all metric. |

I didn't need any Torx to remove the seat from the floor (seatbelt included). All I remember using was plain 15mm sockets I think. You need two sizes and one deep socket for removing the anchor bolt that's sticking up from the floor. For my '03 I had to pop the seatbelt cover off the side, then use a deep 15mm socket to unbolt the belt from the seat. The rear seats were fun to remove ... |
