Post subject:  Hilift jack?

I got my Hilift jack and built an adaptor ( thanks todd) to lift my KJ. It worked good, but I had to raise the body about 2' to get the wheel off, and where do you store this thing? Any one use a bottle jack and just raise the axel 5 or 6".

'02's came with a great little bottle jack - so I use that for nearly everything. I use a 4x6 x 16" long humk of Douglas Fir for the jack to sit on to compensate for the lift/tires.

The Hi-Lift only comes out for the trail or other misc. uses.

Hilift jacks work great on things that don't have a suspension. I use one on my tractor all the time. But for your Jeep it will be much easier to use a bottle jack or small floor jack to get the tire off the ground. Plus they'll be easier to carry and move around.

The 48" jack will fit under the rear seat. Or mount to a roof basket.

Ditto above, I store the 48" lift under the rear seat. A hi-lift canbe useful but I have found it quicker to use a bottle or scissor style jack for tire changes or just to get a rock under a tire , etc.

I thought that there wasn't anywhere on the KJ to use as a lift point, unless you have a bull bar up front (and a rear bar). It's all plastic, so where are you lifting from?

Rock rails work.

If you are lifting the kj to do work at home, get a good floor jack. For out on the trail, highlift with a homemade base works.

Should fit under the back seats unless the new KJ's lower rear seats are too low.
