Your out driving on a trail at night. You come up on a steep hill, your lights only show about 1/2 way up. What is the best line you wonder because you can't see the top 1/2. You reach down and hold in the "UP" button and your off road driving lights tilt up to light up the hill top. A flat piece of steel with a rod welded on each end. Mount your lights on the plate. The rod ends are held to the roof basket with "A" brackets. One end has a gear that meshes with the gear on an electric motor. That is an idea I have but I wouldn't have a clue how to actually build it. I'll bet some of you guys could do it! What do ya think? Terry |

That would be pretty slick. Probably could use some parts from an electic seat or window to get it to work. |

That would be good but why get an extra light? Terry |

The window motor would probably work pretty well. Now, if someone would just try doing it! I think it would work pretty well. I know down here in FL the trails twist around so much that the driving lights are useless. If you could lower them so they are in closer they would work better. Terry |

So if you took the harware of the GoLight and hooked it into a system that sensed fore/aft tilt and steering wheel position but allowed for manual over-ride you would have light wherever the jeep was pointing. Pretty cool. |

Actually Tucker may have first used it in the 50's and I think others are selling it today besides Lexus. In Europe I believe lights that compensate for load so they don't blind oncoming traffic when heavy weights are in the backseat are either required or common. I suppose NJ could use them too if the heavies were in the trunk. Edit: Come to think of it, if memory serves, Tucker barrowed the headlight concept from Mars who built them for railroad locomotives. Someone with the handle "Cowcatcher" should have that memorized. Ahhhh...too many facts, too little time. |
