Well I just had a very interesting conversation with my Stealer. I asked why no dip stick, you dip stick?

He said "It requires a special tool to meassure the fluid level that only the Dealerships can have. The tool has different level markings on it for the different tempreture readings. They have an infered temp gun that they read the tranny with and based upon that reading the dip stick tells them where the fluid level is and wether or not is is low. Idealy the tranny should be at 110 degrees but not always that way. IF the fluid id low it could be hotter and thus giving a false reading on the stock dip stick."

Seems there is cause for concern about customers and/or instant oil change joints adding the incorect fluid and in the wrong amounts.

Also said; "Pay attention to your regular sevice intervals and bring it to us and we will be Happy to check it for you." Yeah RIGHT!

Just thought this might bring a chuckle or two.

Just a scheme in my opinion to make people go back to the dealership and spend money on services. It has also saved Chrysler a nice amount because of the "labor" costs it takes to install the dipstick at the factory.

But it's just my opinion and who really cares anyway?

Neil Huffman in Louisville.

The mechanic said it all started with the mercedes tranny's they started putting in the other chrysler cars.

I have a 7 year 85,000 warentee. so they will be on the hook for a while.

I've delt with Cross on several occasions and have been extremely happy. Very helpful and straightforward.

My brother's 06 Toyota that way - no transmission dipstick - take it to the dealer if you think it has a problem.
