hey! I was talking to somebody today about warranty and I thought of something that I would like to know. I have 05 Sport gasser. After the 3/36000 warranty expires on my Liberty, for how long is it covered under powertrain or does it even have powertrain? |

My '05 came with a 7 yr / 70,000 mile powertrain warranty. |

I think they did away with it or you had to buy it when the veh was new or some doo doo. I bought my kj used. It was jeep certified with 8/80 powertrain warranty. Of course i never got to use it. It ran out 10k miles ago |

I believe they discontinued the 7 yr / 70,000 mile powertrain warranty after 2005, therefore yours should be covered. Did you buy it new or used? If used, you could of had the warranty transferred over, from what I understand. |

I have an 05 and am the second owner. I just paid the dealer $100 and the 7/70 transferred to me. You can do it on an 05, but there is a time window you must do it, you should have got a letter from Chrysler.. call the dealer. Only problem is you have to do it within 30 days of buying the vehicle, although I didn't get the letter until about 3 months after I bought mine, and still had 30 days from then. |

Well I read about the warranty and transfer on the web site so I called Jeep to clarify and the lady told me that mine did not come with one. My jeep used to be rental so I don't think they bothered buying it. That really sucks but I just hope if somehting breaks it breaks in next 2000 miles before the factory warranty runs out. |

I doubt anything will break... Most of the Liberty's on the road run for years without any problems. I've only had a few minor glicthes but nothing in the last 30,000 miles or so. |

7/70 was standard in '05 but I bet they cut a special fleet deal to the rental agency to cut the warranty and lower the price. |
