I am trying to decide on a Viair system or put together a CO2 rig. Right now I am leaning to one of Viair's portable air compressors. Any thoughts on this? Steve |

well provided you can add a tank to the onboard Air you will never run out of air and should still be able to run some power tools with it. CO2 can run out and leave you without air if your trying to run tools or ect. me personally i plan on onboard Air nce i find a place for a small air tank. |

That was pretty much my line of thinking. Except for the speed, I was kind of wondering what other advantages CO2 has. Steve |

Being able to reseat tire beads is a good one for CO2,can't do that with a little-bitty air compressor. My PowerTank holds enough(10lbs tank) to refill my tires from 15psi to 35psi about 14 times(that's all 4 tires 14 times) and be able to do all 4 tires in the time it takes to do one from a air compressor. No noise, more portable,no strain on the electrical sytem, and yes you can run air tools better with a CO2 setup.

never used CO2 but I have a Viair 480c with a 5gal tank. Instant Air whenever I need it. I installed 1200 sq ft of hardwood with it. Built a 10'x16' deck in under 5 hours with it. Tank charges up to 200PSI un about 5 minutes. I have 2 outpits, 1 regulated to 100psi, the other full speed ahead (and a 3rd at 95psi for my ARB). |

I HAD an o.b.a. set up and it was good for 1 thing airing up tires that was it could run a SMALL 1/2" impact for 1 lug then wait about a min. to air back up ,useless for air tools the best little electric compressors deliver <4 or 5 cfm they do have some out that go at like 6 or 8 cfm and will do a impact but they are very high dolla even with a tank you still have limits I now have a 20# CO2 and love it I can remove and reinstall the tires on my TJ do the same to the KJ also remove and install all 4 LCA's on the TJ and still have enough CO2 to air up a few times to top it off the set up cost <$250 if you know how to do it I posted up where to go for the stuff and what to buy I think very rock bottom you can do it for ~$180 |

I would recommend getting an Powertank or something similar. A Powertank will do so much more than an air compressor and it is portable so you can even use it in the house or out on the ranch. |

would a mini compressor... like this one... MV50 or this one MF-1040 be okay for just airing tires up and down? |

How much can it cost to refill a CO2 tank? And other than a welding supply store where can you get it done? Im sure it depends on size. |

It'll do. It'll do slow and hot, but it'll do. Oh and while you're airing up, be sure not to move it wrong and get the wires all caught up in the belt. (right Matty?) With good timing, you can find them for $25. That's what I paid for mine at Kragen. |
