Hey

I was wondering if anyone who had had his(or her) front windows tinted to 35% had pictures. I'm going to have this done next week and I would like to see what it's going to look like beforehand.

Thanks!

you may want to check your local laws reguarding tinting.

I know up here 35% up front is definatly illegal.

Yep, I had an appt scheduled too then found out it was illegal. I knew of a person that had moved here from Florida and she had to take her car in to have the tint taken off because of a ticket.

35% is legal in Tennessee, but I've got 20% on my front windows as it matches the factory tint on the other windows.

If I get a ticket, I'll pay it. Big deal. It's a non-moving violation, so it won't hit your insurance.

Yeah it's illegal here too. I have 50% right now (the legal limit) and you can barely tell the windows are tinted. My tint has a lifetime warranty and the passenger side just started peeling, so I can have one window redone for free. I just wanted to go darker so that it will match the back windows ..

like chad said .. if i get a ticket .. ill just pay it

does anyone have pictures of 35%?

yeah, they will not pull you over just for tint unless your driving a gang-banger car or live in California. They will however, charge it on top of a speeding ticket or site you for it if you're pulled over for any other reason. My old car had 15% tint and i was never pulled over for it...besides my front windows are rolled down in the summer around town anyways! I plan on matching my rear door window tint later this summer as well...some places will not tint your windows below the legal limit, but if you shop around there's always someone who does quality work looking for a quick buck :P

I bought the 20% at the auto parts store and did it myself. I made a few mistakes, but what the hell, you can't tell it unless you're looking for it.

Don't worry about the % of the tint. Just get it to match the rears (if they are tinted) otherwise %20 will be fine. I never heard anyone get pull over because of the tint. You know, if the cops are looking for something to make their quota, they will find something. The tint ticket is about $65 here I guess. I will be getting this done soon, because I hate the high beams of the a-holes on the slow traffic, so I hope this can help a bit.

Post pictures if you get them done! :) I also drive around and I always see "thugs" or "gangsters" with like %5 or %10 tint... It looks very ugly and if they can drive around with that, why not us.

Hey , plus KJ is not a speedy "cop-target" vehicle. :)

20 matches the Factory Tint really well. I had 22 installed because the shop wouldn't go illegal. 22 is the lowest legal limit in Missouri. 20 blends better but is much harder (for me) to see out of at night. 22 is surprisingly a lot better (for me) as far as night visibility goes. There are different shades as well such as original tint, smoked tint, mirrored, black, etc. I chose something that matched my factory tint, which in my case had a fraction of purple tint when compared to the straight black tint. I personally don’t worry about the legal issues with tint. I buy what I want. It’s not like removing emissions, it’s just a simple state by state law that changes from time to time. I’m 31, and have never been pulled over for tint. And when pulled over in the past (a total of 3 times), the cops are usually too fascinated with what I’m driving to really care. If you do get pulled over, always roll down your windows and be super nice. :D

It really depends on the shop you take it to (or where you buy the tint if you're going to do it yourself). The shop that I use is stupidly expensive ($70 per window - I only use them because I don't trust myself to do it and they're very close by). I think that you can have it done for as little as $40 per window (or less I'm not sure) and the kits are even less expensive.

riptricket - I have an 05' renegade too and as far as I can tell the tint is the same for all model years. I'm not sure exactly what the percentage is on the back windows but I think its around 20%. Just take it to a shop and have them professionally match the backs.

Some places will only tint them if you pay them cash.
And I also saw that some sort of sticker is required between film and the glass, I have never saw that in person on any tinted windows, though.

I'm not sure exactly where you're from in northeast OH, but the place that I use is called Summit Sound & Security. The owner is a nice guy, and they do a lot of work for Cavs and Browns players, but I'm not sure about the quality of their work. So far I've had an audio system installed (the headunit rattles and I had to reinstall it to keep it from sliding out, and my amplifier is mounted in the worst possible place on the back of the rear seat), and the front windows tinted (and the front passenger side is peeling). Maybe they do better work for adults?

More pics anyone?

Guys, just pop down in to KY to get your windows tinted. Heck, I think it's legal to just spray-paint them solid black in KY! I believe you'd be legal with no opaque glass other than a 3"X8" tank slit in the windshield...and I think they might let you tint THAT to 20%. :-)

When I moved to VA from KY, I got pulled over for my tint. It was 30%. I let the officer know that I had just moved to the state three days prior, and he said, "It doesn't matter, it's illegal to have tinted windows here."

I had titanium tint on my Jetta. That was a nice tint on that car. It would look stupid on the KJ though. Take it to a GOOD place that has a lifetime warranty and ask them to match the backs. If they don't have a lifetime warranty, walk away.
