Well, my rear driver side door has the window fail and fall down into the door. Apparenlty the regulator failed according to warranty repair invoice. I just wanted to pass on that I used big black hefty trash bag slipped down from the top and over the entire door to seal up the window area until the repair was completed. This worked very good and during our rains it kept the car dry inside. Just figured I'd pass on the tip because the dealer says that these fail quite a bit on KJs. |

Thanks for the advice. So far four of my window regs. have failed in 13months! I guess this is to be expected on a car with 7,500 miles |

That is friggin insane! I have only had the DS front window reg fail on my 03 w/ 40K miles (failed at 36,400-ish just out of bumper to bumper) but the side that failed is the one always facing the sun so I figured it got brittle. The plastic sheath that surrounds the cable is crap and I fully expect future failures. W/ what they cost, I am not happy that this could become habit. Stupid Jeep. |

Where is the regulator located? What's the price for the part? |

Well, this one failed with 12K on the clock. It was luck I had the trash bag. I tend to keep one in the jeep for strange occasions just like this incident. I can tell you that I've used hefty bags for ponchos many a time. It is one of those macguyver things you keep on hand. |

I'm starting to wonder if mine is about to go out. my back right window has gotten slower going up and wobbles going down. Is there any signs before it fails hinting at its possible failure??? |

The regulator is the mechanism that actualy raises and lowers the window. It is located inside the door panel. They can be a real PITA to replace or repair. |

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=22718 Mine went out too with only 8k. I park it outside, so I guess the temp changes and sun did a job on the plastic surrounding the cable... So JJ, How much was it at the dealer for the part. Also, could you reinforce with electrical or duct tape around the white plastic covering the cable to help shore it up? |

I tried a couple different temporary fixes to fix the cable covering and it just kept breaking in new spots. I can't remember exactly what I paid as it was a few months ago but it was over $200 IIRC. Replacing it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. |
