All,

Good morning. I've got a question about hood blackout - popular with the Rover guys - is there any reason, aside from looking cool, to paint your hood flat black? Sun glare? Thanks in advance.

Sun glare and light reflection from some driving lights mounted on the roof.

They have been blacking out the hoods since back in the 70s on different vehicles for different reasons. I think it looks OK, not sure on a Caddy :? , but on a Liberty if done right would be OK

I have it done on my Montero, and it helps cut down the glare from the roof lights

i'ts not just the hood that got blacked out. Yes the most memorable I can think of is the '70 Boss 302 Mustang. , it has also been a Hot Rodders chioce for years. But to see another example go to Powerblock TV.com or Just got to this link to what they called project "Old Skool" See
http://powerblocktv.com/sites/trucks/ep ... ep_m=March
It's a 1953 Ford F-100 painted all Flat Black in the Hot Rodders tradition, not all may like the looks but it does have it's place for that certain look

Take a Look and at least see another avenue in cosmetics for your ride :!: :!:

Painting the hood flat black and then saying that painting something all over flat black is a lot different, mixing Rat rods and just hoods is different all together, just ask any old hot rodder. been through most all of it or at least have the Tshirts so I must of been

if your not a very good body man and want to hide waves in the paint flat black is a great way to do it... a lot of people do it with after market fiberglass hoods because fiberglass is almost always wavy... however i just think it looks good....
