Post subject:  Please Read! Engine "noise"

So Ive had my 03 KJ for almost 4 months. On the way to pick up my SIRIUS b-day present I started to hear this god awful crackling noise. It was drivers side and I zeroed in on the tweeter speaker on top of the dash. I put my hand over it and the noise seemd to muffle. I then used the radio controls to zero in on the front left speakers and no noise. I then turned the radio off, noise was still there. I figured out the noise comes at about 40 MPH or so. (I later figured out it goes away after 80 MPH  ) A friend suggested bad plugs/wires or is it coil packs?? I revved the engine in Park and Neutral to around the same RPM as when the noise starts, nothing. No check engine light or any noticeable performance issues. I guess what I'm wondering has anyone expereinced something similar? Is this going to be a costly issue? or is it a stealership only fix? Like always any suggestions/input are always GREATLY appreciated .

Hi, new here. I would check to see if the ground strap(s) is/are loose first. Common cause of engine noise through the radio.

Stupid question...the ground straps are the inch or so wide braided material right? Do you know where they are found underneath the KJ? Thanks for the help!

Yes, if you have the 3.7 liter, there should be two coming together fastened high to the firewall. Check for a good connection there and follow the other ends to the engine block and make sure they are snug.
