I'm looking at getting an old jeep and creating a vehicle strictly for off road use. This would be towed to/from the destination and used only at the off road park.

here be stupid questions...

Would I need insurance/license plates/city registration/other on this vehicle?

Some states require a ORV sticker, muffler, and some kind of flag to use the state lands. Other than that, if the rigs on a trailer the trailer needs licensed. If tow bar towed the rig needs a license. Essentially if wheels of some kind are on the ground the state wants their hand in your pocket.

Also some cities/counties require that you have license on anything you have sitting around unless you can keep it hidden in the garage!

the badlands is the closest place to me so id prob and from the faq on their site "Q: Do I need insurance to ride at the park? A: No, we don't require insurance to ride at our park but you would be wise to consider it for your own protection."

would this just be liability?

how would i know that? I dont want to go into the village hall and, by asking about it, get socked with fees...

They can't sock you with fees for something you don't have yet. Just go in and ask. There's no such thing as a stupid question, right?
