ive seen it before and it does work. personally i think it would only work in certain types of mud, i dont know how effective it would be in the slimey stuff. the guy i saw do it was going through the thick, almost dry stuff.
and in response to your comment about the hummer H2, i have friend who says an H2 is better than any jeep, period!

Chains are kinda useless in the mud,get a good MT tire and some wheel spin and you'll be better off.Plus chains tend to be really bad for your vehicle.A good MT tire will be much better, but you need some wheel speed to keep those suckers cleaned out.I mud drag raced for a few years and you will be amazed on how much mud you can go through with the correct tires and some wheel speed(did I mention wheel speed is key?).That's the single biggest reason most poeple get stuck in mud, they loose the momentum and there wheel speed, when I play in the mud(not often in the KJ) my foot never leaves the floor, full throttle all the way  !!!!!!

There is about 10-12 H2's in my town, and almost off them are own by chcisk with big rims, only one has big tires and not one spec of mud on it

If your vehicle is outfitted right, you should be able to stop in the middle, crawl out the window and take a piss, get back in and drive off.

Thats what I did in a duece and a half right before destroying a Cuban/Panamanian outpost. The wheels turn slow as heck and the goop was up to the window.

Chains work GREAT in mud.

Beware, they can get hung on stumps and roots and ruin your world.

Your biggest asset in mud, is more mud, and the torque to turn the wheels.

If anything else it looked like they had some fun. But I've never considered chains for mud. I did how ever have a 1980 Toyota Celica GT hatch back, it was a blast to drive anyway but back in 1982 Denver had a incredible blizzard you could only see the toys roof and no more. I dug it out pulled it into the garage and put my trusty chains on. When I took it out I saw sooo many idiots with lifted trucks in the ditch because they were not smart enough to realise 4 wheel drive didn't mean 4 wheel stop. But anyway with the relatively flat bottom and the chains it became a rather stylish enclosed snow mobile. As long as I didn't get stupid It when everywere on the street I wanted to. Until this post I never considered chains for my Libby, but now I'm thinking the belt & suspenders mindset . Never hurts to plan ahead, This idea could have possiblitys.

LEAD :D FOLLOW :P or GET OUT of THE WAY   8) :-)r :-)r :-)r

I was thinking of getting a pair of these. Easier to get on and off than chains.

I have to say these are impressive if they do as they say this could just be the answer. They are a little pricey but you get what you pay for. But then again I have been more then once accused of being a gadeget whore  .
