Recently purchased this 06 Limited and am surprised by the weak headlights -- especially on hi-beam. What's the reason for this? |

I've always thought the lights on the KJ were OK. Have you tried replacing the bulbs with some factory spec pieces yet? |

The factory bulbs should be replaced after one year? <shaking head in disbelief> sleeve84028 wrote: I've always thought the lights on the KJ were OK. Have you tried replacing the bulbs with some factory spec pieces yet?

Tell that to the folks coming at me who keep flashing their lights for me to dim! |

I never said the bulbs should be replaced after 1 year. I asked you if you tried replacing your bulbs because you thought they didn't work well. I've been driving this vehicle for 5 years and I'm still using the original bulbs [that still light up the road] Maybe your reflectors are missing or the plastic housing isn't clear? |

I'll take another look at the adjustment but they appear to be where they need to be. The aux lights I put on my BMW GS motorbike are much better than the high beams on this Liberty. |

AHHH! Don't compare them to your Beemer! There is no comparison, BMW makes high beams frighteningly bright. My other car is a Bimmer, & I can hardly use my high beams, because they are so bright that anyone in front of me will be in pain even more than a mile out! Remember BMWs of all wheel configurations are made for very high speed driving, and the hyper-bright light is needed to see far enough ahead to respond while cruising at ~150 MPH. |

My bike is the GS (Grande Slasse (sp) German for Over Land) much akin to an SUV. Have you seen 'Long Way Round'? That's what I ride. The aux lights are two Lightforce 140's. The small Lightforce lights. In addition I have two 55-watt Motolights that run whenever the low-beam is on. On high-beam I have the high-beam of the head light and the Lightforce lights. Night into Day and it's all legal. I just moved from a Saab to this Jeep (had Wranglers in the past and missed that "I can go anywhere" function). My Saab's lights were awesome -- perhaps as you mentioned the need to not outdrive them at highway speeds. When my Jeep high beams are on, they are weak and barely able to light up a curve ahead of me. |

First thing I did after buying my Libby was to swap out the headlight bulbs. Driving the mountain roads a lot provides a special appreciation for good lighting, and except for those that come with HIDs, I've never been satisfied with the OEM lighting from any car make. I don't think the Libby's stock lights were particularly dim for an OEM bulb, they just weren't bright enough for me. |

Never had a problem with my dim or bright lights. Comparing the stock lights to aftermarket lights is, well, kinda like comparing my brights on my Jeep to the Hellas I put on. It just doesnt make sense. |

I am comparing the Liberty lights to my Saab, my daughters VW Bug, and other cars I have driven. It is foolish to compare the Lightforce 140's to the stock lights - I agree with you on that. tommudd wrote: comparing Lightforce lights to KJ high beam etc, am I missing something here?

I've had the "joy" of driving from Minneapolis to Cincinnati 4 times & Cincinnati to Minneapolis 3 times; all in the last 6 weeks. That is about 750 miles per trip, mostly at night. I had no issues of the lights being weak. For what it's worth, the seats didn't bother me either... not bad for a 13 hour drive! |

I know the brights on my Corolla are almost twice as bright as the brights on my KJ. |
