I’m thinking about rotating my tires this weekend. I won’t need to balance the wheels right?

I ask b/c I just called the dealer about having some work done and they tried to talk me into the “C-pacakge” which amongst other things included tire rotation and tire balance. I didn’t think tires had to be balanced if you’re only rotating them.

By the way – they said the “C-package” was $589!!!!

If you are having problems then yes you may want to have them balanced but if not you can rotate them yourself and save a bundle, I rotate mine every 3 to 4000 and the last set have over 30000 and never been rebalanced and still ride great! 589 wow and people really pay that?

Balancing doesn't need to be done at every rotation.

You will be fine with just the rotation.

They MAY need to be re-balanced if you're swapping left/right. If you're just swapping front/rear, you don't need to have them re-balanced.

Speaking of balancing... When I got my destinations I paid extra for the lifetime balance and rotation. I've got to go in soon and have them 'pay up' on those free balancing's

I was going to swap them left to right and front to back. Looking by eye only the front tires seem like they are wearing even so I think I might just do it on my own. If I notice any vibrations I'll bring it in.

No need to balance the tires matter where/how you rotate the tires.Only need to balance the tires if vibrations appear or the wieghts get knocked off and possible with some types of tire wear, but no need to when rotating, even from the left side to the right side(or vice versa).
