Post subject:  How do I know if my Jeep had the lower ball joints replaced?

Is there a definitive way I can find out if my jeep already had a recall and if so if the repair work has already been done. I bought a certified-pre owned ’04 Limited about two months ago. The dealer had said that all the work had been done on it but after reading some posts here I just want to be 100% sure and want to find out from someone other than the dealer I bought it from.

Is there a site that I can enter in my VIN number so see if I had the recall and ALSO see if the Jeep was brought in for the recall work? I think I’ve heard about something like this but I can’t remember.

Sorry if this is a double post, I couldn’t find the answer when I was searching the other posts.

by the way, I did read the post on how to check them in the 4x4 section (good write up)... I just haven't done that yet. But with the dealer telling me that all the work has been done on my Jeep I just want to know for sure. I can't imagine that a dealer would sell me something that's had a recall and didn't do anything about it but, at the same time I wouldn't put it past them.

Go to jeep.com and then under the for owners section you should be able to enter your VIN number into a recall checker. It'll tell you what outstanding recalls are listed against that particular VIN number.

Or you can call the Jeep dealer. Of course they might lie to you like the one in Bloomington, MN did to me... so you may want to call 2 just to double check.

Thanks! I just checked and it says "No Incomplete Recalls or Customer Satisfaction Notifications Exits." When I rotate the tires I'll do my own check but this has given me some peace of mind.

I called the dealer in my area, then I found out about the website. I was curious as well. No outstanding recalls on my unit either :)
