When its cold out and I first start up my jeep the power steering pump whines for a minute. My guess is moisture in the fluid and would guess a fluid change would help. I dont experience any noise in the summer heat. Any other ideas or experiences |

Do a quick search and you will find tha the topic has been covered in a bunch of threads. Basically it's a common occurance with our Libbys. When cold (winter months), the fluid provides more resistance and causes the pump to make noise. My '03 has been doing it since day one, and I've never had and trouble with the pump. |

Mine was doing that winning noise in cold weather and the stealership changed it out and said that they had to replace alot of them on the libertys and the ram trucks. Iam not sure what exactly it was but since they replaced it i haven't heard it even in -40 C. Mine was covered by warranty so iam not sure what the $$$ is! Josh |

Well that doesnt sound good, will check out the cost for a new pump but will prolly try and change the fluid first. |

Mine does it too...it also makes a little more noise than it used to at full lock. New pump isn't even $130 so i'll worry about it when it quits workin |
