Specifically an inside shot facing the liberty. I was wondering how it attached to the rear of the vehicle. |

It is similar to this one http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0003781512246a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=suv+tent&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=suv+tent&noImage=0 I have this tent and LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It attaches with the use of a sinch cord that pulls taught around the rear end of the vehichle body. ONE CAUTION. MAKE SURE EXHAUST PIPE IS COOL TO THE TOUCH before sinching it down. if it comes in contact with it i will melt it. I use this for deer camp all the time. Lasted for years. Not sure about the JEEP one but the cabela's is GREAT!!!! |

ditto what Woody said. Have the Liberty one, but dont think I have any pics of it hooked up. I'll check around. Attachs with elastic cord. It's huge inside, had a queen mattress in it and probably could put a single at the foot and off to the side. If you dont hook it up with the jeep, the second compartment doesn't close off so well. I just tie it up with another bungee. mke |

I have never seen the Jeep one. I do not work for cabela's. BUT the cabela's tent is HUGE with NO center pole and a solid floor. no bugs and water. When NOT connected to the KJ it has a zippered flap that closes off COMPLETELY just like the opening was never there. All kinds of storage pockets inside and a mesh roof thingy inside that you can put all kinds of stuff up in the ceiling out of the way or hang a light. We put, for myself and the misses a queen air matress and a honkin' huge sleeping bag and plenty of room to chase eachother around the tent left over. If the jeep is like that, Buy it. If not BUY the cabela's for a few buck less i think. |

Its not the best in the world for rain. Its a good idea to throw a tarp over it. |

Why would you want your Liberty hooked up to a tent? I do a lot of camping with my motorcycle and a Big Agnes tent. Never thought about backing a truck into my tent so I am curious as to the benefits. |

The primary reason is the weather but another reason for this idea, I think and like is security. Like i said i use it in deer camp. Spare amo, arrows, repair equipment, clothing and food is all kept in the KJ where other critters, curious hikers and anti hunting wakos can't mess with your gear witout making a hell of a racket. I know some will not apprieciate this but you spend weeks getting ready for a one week end hunting trip and have your vacation scheduled from work. you arrive and set up and hunt the first night. well you need clean un-scented clothing for ideal hunting so you have to pack spare clothing. Also the weather cna change on you and you may need lighter or heavier clothing. All is going great until some tree huggin a$$hole decides to piss all over your sleeping bag and spare clothing to mess with your hunt. Been there. had it happen, BUT it was my friends stuff and we caught the a$$hole and had them locked up and still got to hunt, once the sherrif let us clean out stuff in his families washer and dryer. Long story... You can't trust anybody anymore, so a safe on 4 wheels is great to have sometimes. |

Get to camp set up your tent. Next day you go wheeling, get mud all over the Liberty then when you get back to camp you wanna back up the Liberty so that you can hook it back up to the tent. Well I would think that would be a problem in the sense that you would more than likely get not only mud on the outside of the tent but inside. Even if the mud is dried out you will get plenty of dirt inside. I will say its looks HUGE. Any pics of it when it's all wrapped up? That would make or break the deal (if I was in the market for one). Getting you stuff pissed on that is total BS.... |

I just bought one of those on eBay. I haven’t had a chance to set it up yet but I specifically asked if it had a rain cover. Are you saying it’s bad in the rain b/c it doesn’t have a rain cover or b/c even with the rain cover it’s bad? The entire reasons I bought a tent that you can attached to the car is to not have to deal with the rain (last two times I went camping it was raining!) Man I’m going to be upset if that doesn’t have a rain cover. To answer someone else’s questions mine came with a Jeep duffel bag that’s maybe 3’ x 1’. It has two nylon straps and a shoulder strap to carry it. Total weight is maybe 30lbs? To give a better idea of the size when you lay it across the back of the jeep there is about 10” or less to spare on the side between the bag and the wheel well bump. |

I want to see what it looks like when the tent is connected to the KJ with the rear swing door open. |

I'm more curious about the construction of the tent. Does it use fiberglass or aluminum poles? I've had fiberglass poles split apart a couple of times already. The comment about "not great in the rain; throw a tarp over it" --- does that mean this comes without a rainfly? With mesh roof even? How can that be? |

Why not open the bag and take a peek? Thanks for checking! |

I would like to have truck free to go wheelin! I think I would be embarrased to unveil that thing with the people I go wheelin with too.... I would never hear the end of it! Never had a problem with tree huggers and hunting either.... I hunt. I just lock the stuff in the truck. Maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe you should hunt in Canada! |

I don't see why you guys think it's such a bad idea. After all, you don't have to hook it up to the Jeep and it stands on its own just fine. It isn't a top-end tent for sure, but looks to be a well-made middle of the pack tent that will comfortably house two adults and maybe two kids in separate compartments. Imagine that. No weird sleeping bag arrangement to fit everybody in. You can keep your coolers and luggages inside, etc. Not everybody needs ultralight alpine tents ... |

I was at work when I asked about the rain cover. I set it up this weekend and it's great. It's a 5 person tent total but really it seems more like a 4 person tent with a 1 person extra compartment. The extra compartment is the portion that attaches to the jeep. if you don't use that you can still close the tent up but the room shrinks to 4. The top of the tent has a little net to hang stuff in. Within nothing in the net the headroom is 6'3" in the middle. Without the net it's probably 6'7" It does have a rain cover and it looks like it's a bit of a pain. In addition to connecting it to all the base poles it also requires 11 stings attached to separate tent stakes to keep the rain cover off the tent. The rain cover does not cover the section of the tent that would attach to the jeep. The section of the material over the jeep is different from the rest of the tent and seems to be made up a rain resistant material but I'm not sure. It wasn't raining so... I'll take my chances when it does rain. Other than that it seems like a great tent. Plenty of room for 4 and if you set up with the jeep room for 5. |

It does come with a rain fly and does very well in the rain, unless you park the Jeep on a upward slope higher than the tent. Last summer we did a 2 week camping trip and it rained several days in a row.....all was well and dry once the Jeep was leveled.
And if you have the DVD player? We would watch movies at night, battery never hesitated to start Jeep. Coleman makes a nice ceiling fan with led lighting that adds a nice touch as well. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... sc&start=0 |

thats an awesome idea. if you need something just open up the tailgate and crawl in and its all open to go back and forth. funny note, would be funny if someone rolled over in their sleep and CRACK! head hits the hitch ball hahaha
