| Post subject: | So why do they call it a Limited? |
My Limited really has nothing different, except for the painted trim and fenders, than a sport would. It doesn't have leather, an EVIC, sunroof, moonroof, power seats etc. So why do they call it a Limited then? Is it really just the paint job thats the difference? What makes it different? Im guessing my Limited is the bare minimun Limited version. Also im guessing whoever originally purchased it from the dealer didn't add any of the extra optional features so thats the reason it is the way it is. Any insight on this? Thanks. (I hope im not going to get hammered on this one) |

Selec-Trac vs Command-Trac is enough to make it a limited. Rest is all generally options you can add to Sport. doesn't have all that stuff?? it is strange, LTD is usually leather, but it could be just that you didn't get the good package. if you don't have selec trac, It is not LTD, it is sport badged with ltd.. |

It could still be a Limited...is it a 2x4? or 4x4? It will also have the "metal finish" plastic on some trim pieces...radio bezel, shifter bezel, window and door controls, ect. It would also come standard with different wheels than a "sport". The Limiteds come standard with Automatics BUT you can get Command or Selec Trac (selec-trac is an upgrade). Here is some good info: http://research.cars.com/go/crp/researc ... f=national |

I didn't buy mine brand new but I find it hard to believe you couldn't upgrade a sport model with this option for a sum of $$ from the dealer. Of course you would have to special order... BTW......(to the poster of this thread)....do you like the band? |

Were just some college kids who love to play music and want to go as far as we can. Thanks for all the info everyone. So it's pretty much what I thought. I wish it had some more stuff in it, but it's an 02 limited 89k freaking CLEAN for 8grand so I can't complain. Also im installing a EVIC so that will make me feel more "upgraded". |

Selec-trac is available for Sport (non-CRD) models too, at least it was in 03 when I got mine. I don't think there are any mechanical advantages to having a Limited, but as Jason explained, it's about the trim levels. |

I must be gettin old Quote: Thanks for all the info everyone. So it's pretty much what I thought. Wow, now I feel almost guilty for what I paid for my uber clean 02 Sport almost 2 years ago I honestly don't think you'll miss all that happy electronic stuff...my 01 Exploder had all the bells and whistles, and I never used 'em. I got my 02 KJ, bare bones (TAPE DECK, forcriminysake) with power windows and AC...those and 4wd were pretty much the only actual OPTIONS. I'm fairly grateful it doesn't have the transponder key, either:D That being said...I'm jealous of your aluminum-finish interior panels. I want 'em. Trade ya straight up, OR you may just find em missing one night;) OH, and don't get the EVIC without installing TPMS sensors. TPMS rules. |

I went "Limited" for: Aluminum Trim interior Toupe Leather Seats (more comfortable than the standard cloth seats IMO) Heated Seats Larger Rims / Tires Select Trac (even though you can get in on the sport) Fancy fender paint that attracts rock strikes The Options is what makes it limited. The name is just a badge. |

In regards to Limited, leather and bun warmers. To clarify, my 2002 Limited, I bought used from a friend of mine. It has every option available, that I know of, except a sunroof and seat warmers. The Jeep is all leather, but no seat warmer. I guess when you get leather, seat warmers are not standard. On a 2002, is there a Selectrac and Command Trac option in 4X4?? I thought these two options where offered in newer model years?? I do have 4X$ with the normal part time and full time 4 wheel options, how do I know if it is Command or Selec?? |

Seat warmers were IIRC a $200.00 option on top of the leather... Well worth it in the cold winter months. Comand Trac = no full time feature Select Trac = Full Time feature Both are standard 4x4 transfer cases |
