Does anyone know off hand if a radiator from an '06 would fit an '02?

When my fan died in my '02, I swapped it in under 10 minutes for the fan from an '06.

Now my radiator has sprung a leak and I was hoping to do the same.

I do not believe it will.

The 02 libertys had a tranny cooler built into the radiator and I do not believe the 06 libertys do.

Post subject:  Metal Radiator???

I don't know if there are any aftermarket Radiators out available. I'm just old school that way. Never have been able to accept the new plastic ones. I could be full of it  . But I alway thought a metal one would hold up to bounceing around better then the plastic ones. Just my 2 cents worth.

I would think you would be able to take it into a radiator shop and have them repair it.

It's hard to repair the plastic end caps.

Buying a replacement raditor will solve the problem for another 80K miles (but it'll happen again.)

A friend of mine in TX used to own a radiator shop. Oh did he hate the plastic end caps on the radiators, but he would remove the end and replace them.
It was a lot cheaper for the customer but he would offer this if he couldn’t locate a radiator or if it was more cost efficient to do this instead of replacing the entire radiator.

I would try a radiator shop and find out before trying to locate a new one from the stealership.

My mechanic replaced my stock '02 radiator that kept springing leaks at the top corner on the driver's side with an upgraded 3 core aluminum radiator. He said it wasn't the most fun thing he had ever done, but it cools better and doesn't leak.

True the 02's have the trans cooler in the radiator. Just get an external trans cooler. I'm sure they are more efficient anyway. I have 92k on my stock radiator. Just waiting for it to take a doo doo. Probably next week when i'm on vacation 250 miles from home.

I've been here before u just need to hunt for an aluminum one don't get the plastic ones they are crap. My aluminum aftermarket rad has the internal trans cooler in it and it was $300 can just need to find a good rad shop. If not go with one and a trans cooler. The plastic ones are a problem that happens around 100 000 on them. Good luck finding one it took me a couple days to hunt one down that wasn't an absurd amount for a plastic piece of crap.

a manual trans doesn't need the cooler, does it?

^^no gris, it doesnt.

Usually a rad doesnt just BLOW out but a rad hose will.

If it did start to slowly leak, just pick up a bottle of the proper coolant and check it often till you got home.

Please do not use any of that radiator stop leak crap, it can mess up alot of stuff.

The only time I've ever needed a temporary fix, I was camping out, on a spelunking expedition, got hit with an early snowstorm: The only thing I had was eggs; salt, but not pepper. The whites of two of those eggs not only got us home but, I drove on them for another two weeks before I found a replacement radiator. It had just started leaking again, at the two week point, with daily driving on the highway, more than 100 miles/day.

haha, they had the eggs on myth busters and it worked.

I was talking about all that crap they have in the parts stores. They have a bunch of different stuff for leaks in rads.
