Is there a same way to remove the emblems from your Jeep without scratching or chipping the paint? I'm thinking of possibly seeing if a hair dryer would loosen them or some kind or liquid remover but I'm concerned about the paint.

Need to replace a few that are pretty badly dinged up, that is if I can find them for a good price.

Yank them off on a hot day.
That's what I did, they come off very easily on 01-04
Not sure about 05+ since they are made of harder plastic, but it should be same 3m sticker underneath.
polish/wax it to get it even with the rest of the paint, on better condition KJ should not be noticable at all.
Mine was just not scratched around the decal/emblem.. so it is one flat spot without a scratch, rest is all swirls..

All of them are attached using 3m adheasives.

3m's website has loads of info on removing a installing them. A hair dryer/heatgun is good, just be VERY careful will cook your paint. Also with a second set of hands us monofimiment line with knots tied in it about an inch apart. acts as a paint frendlt saw to cut through the heated adheasive and makie removal faster.

Once off, use 3m's cleaner and primer to prepare the surface for re-application.

A good info link

Ha, I knew you would answer that one Tommudd. We have the poor Toledo, Holland area confused, Two black lifted Libertys that have similar tires and wheels.

Dental floss and light application of heat with a heat gun. Then plastic razor with glass cleaner (on a freshly washed Jeep, of course, to avoid scratching) With your KJ being 5 years old, though, beware of emblem ghosting...pretty much impossible to get out.

The worst part of all.

I removed 3 badges from the back of my 05' with no paint damage and no ghosting.

Just use a hairdryer to heat them up a bit, then use fishing line and slide it under the letters. Once you have removed the letters, you'll need to use a product like goo-gone to get the residue off.

Using wax is great unless you want to replace the emblems with new ones. Then you have to strip off the wax for the adheasive tape to stick back on.

You can use goof off to get rid of the emblem ghosting

I'm not too worried about the ghosting, I will be replacing them with the same ones as long as I kind find them at a decent price. I was more worried about scratching or bubbling the paint.

Thanks for all the tips everyone, hopefully I can do it without causing too much damage.

boo-hiss at removing them and not putting them back on. I'm into old Jeeps and it drives me crazy when people remove data plates, dash emblems, and outside emblems and don't replace them. Especially if you have something a little more unique or limited edition of some kind. Those little emblems and decals become very hard to find and valuable in time. If someone doesn't want their emblems, you can mail them to me :)

I agree with that to a point stick but come on its a Jeep Liberty not a 55 Chevy Belair. Plus you are comparing metal/cast emblems to butt ugly plastic crap, not even the same thing. Plus the name of the game is to make it your own, so I de badged mine then put on my own badging which gets a ton more comments than the boring Liberty on the sides but then that is just me and I like me that way!     Oh I guess my 49 Ford is "debadged" as well, its my Rat rod!!!

Sure, it's all about making the vehicle your own. I agree totally. I'm just not a fan of removing emblems, but thats just me. They certainly don't make them like they used to. The "Jeep" emblem on the front of our KJ is all cracked and falling apart. I actually like the "Renegade" emblems that are on the side though.
