I don't know how else to describe it. 2002 Liberty makes a noise on occassion that can best be described as it sounds like farting. Fortunately, there is no stink that accompanies it. Happens maybe every 20 minutes or so. I have no clue as to what this could be. Any ideas or similar sounds coming from your vehicle? |

Is it happening when you're driving, when you're idling, or both? Does it happen at all speeds when driving? God forbid it's doing it when the engine's not running! |

Does it happen when the jeep is sitting and not running? If so, its the evap pump kicking on to check the system for leaks. |

Also, do you have an aftermarket exhaust? |

I do not have an aftermarket exhaust. Typically happens after about 20 minutes of driving and just as I am letting up on the gas. I believe it happens at all speeds but difficult to hear at highway speeds. Occurs with AC/Heat either on or off. |

I can't remember if I read about it in the Factory Service manual or on another thread. But I beleive it said this can happen to the evac system on the fuel tank. I thinks that the first possible problem of KJ flatution. |
