I would like to thank the Ladies and Gentleman of "Sevierville Police Department" for allowing me to photograph one of their Jeep KJ police vehicles.
While in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee on buisness about a month and a half ago, I spotted one of these KJ's. I went back on vacation this past weekend and started my search for one of the KJ Police vehicles.
Here it is......Enjoy.

NOT A PURSUIT VEHICLE...needs to read...FOR OFFROAD PURSUIT ONLY

The spotlight on the pillar is a nice touch

not sure how many they have but I "chased" one around town the middle of August trying to get a picture, saw it first when we were taking a picture of Dollys statue. The wife is a fan :? Never did get close enough to take one kept getting stuck in traffic, yes what traffic right!
The city of Toledo has a ton of them for different city offices but never see any with lights etc for the PO-LICE!!

The CSP used to have a number of XJs around, though I dont think I have seen one for a few years.

the Cool thing was the police XJs had a button on the dash for "high idle lock" kinda cool if you needed to run some electric accessories for awhile.

plus most of the XJs had column shift as well or most I ever saw did , Toledo still has a bunch of these around

The older(pre 95) XJs did, when the XJ got the mechanical airbag in 95 the column shift was lost.

Does Jeep offer a police package in the KJ at all?

I never would have thought the Liberty could be used as a Police type vehicle. Doesn't the Suburban kind of fit the "bill" when it comes to utility need and weather need?

not knocking the KJ - but it seems like quite an investment to custom outfit a Liberty. But then again, I suppose one Liberty is probably 1/2 the price of a Suburban.

hell the police pakage tahoes don't even run like my crd, and they're way lighter than the suburbans, and i know the 3.7's are a little quicker.
not to mention a jeep is about half the initial cost and gets better fuel mileage.. they seem to be having good uckwith htem in va so far..
