Post subject:  Lights acting weird after hooking trailer lighting up....

So I borrowed a trailer from a guy I work with yesterday to go pick up a bike I just bought. It had lighting on the trailer so I hooked it up to my outlet. Had to use an adapter to go from the flat style to the round. Went and got the bike and came home and everything was fine. I noticed on the way home that my instrument cluster lights werent working until I hit the brake pedal. Thought that was odd. I dropped the trailer off yesterday and noticed on the way home last night that my instrument cluster lights dont do anything now. Also my right parking light is out. I put a new bulb in last night and it came on. Now this morning the bulb isnt working again and the cluster lighting is still out. I just looked in the owners manual which says fuse #9 controls cluster lighting and right front and rear parking lights. I guess the fuse could be gone but why would the new bulb have worked last night after I had already dropped the trailer off but not now? Maybe the fuse was on its last leg?

My uneducated guess - the trailer wasn't grounded properly and sent it's voltage back through your trailer harness (vehicle side) and blew a fuse. Start pulling every one to check and verify they are good.
