Some gun shops sell special lock boxes that can be chained to the seat frame, they cost about $50. Maybe something like that would be a good option. They are mostly designed to hold a handgun so they would work great for locking up some small documents and money along with some rings. |

I have a tuffy style lock box in the rear of the jeep, Think it originally was meant for a YJ/ TJ, but it fits just fine. It fits in the cargo area and only sticks out about 8 inchs or so. The top of the closed lid is just below the bag holders. I'll see if I don't have any pics of it around, dont think I do though. I also dont see why you couldnt get a one of the small tuffy lock boxs that is meant for the under hood area. should fit fine under the seat. just be carefull when drilling the holes so as to not hit the tranny or transfer cases. |

There is a fair amount of unused room under the dash/steerling wheel (behind the plastic trim panel). There was enough room for someone put a cb radio there. I would think if you operated on the plastic cover you could make it pop on and off real quick, and reveal a small lock box. If you manage to get the cover on and of fast enough, this would unnoticeable and easy/quick access. The problem with the usual under the seat lock box is that it easy to find. Once the thief knows the lock box it is there, they are going to spend all their time trying to rip it out of the vehicle as they can assume the most valuable stuff is in it, but they cannot steal what they do not know is there to begin with. |
